Melanie Fiona's second album is due out this year and the lead single is already out. A new song that she recorded with Stephen Marley just hit the internet and she is also on the remix of Cee Lo's new single "Fool For You".
Gone and Never Coming Back
No Cigarette Smokin' (Stephen Marley)

Wow, that was one of my favorite songs off The Lady Killer - Melanie sounds great.
The Marley track is also a pleasant listen.
Get it, girl! I was worried she was just going to be doing hooks on these songs. Phew.

Had we seen this? This song should have been the follow up to 'It Kills Me'.

She has a bunch of videos from the first album. Wish one more track would have caught on. Oh well, on to the next!

She didn't have enough radio hits from her first album. How many units did she sell with that one?

Melanie Fiona peeked out from the shadows at Jay-Z and LeBron James’ Two Kings Dinner last month to share details about her sophomore album The MF Life. “It’s fun, it’s young, it’s where I’m at right now,” the Canadian songbird told Rap-Up TV. “It’s taking all the energy that I’ve taken from being around the world and meeting so many different amazing people, and just really experiencing life, the ups and downs.”
She has assembled a team of heavy-hitters including John Legend, No I.D., Johntá Austin, and Andrea Martin for the follow-up to her 2009 debut The Bridge, and is aiming for a June/July release.
The “It Kills Me” singer also revealed how her collaboration with Cee Lo Green came about. “I always speak about doing things, like manifesting things and I always said I wanted to work with Cee Lo,” she said. “I actually walked up on him at the Soul Train Awards and I was like, ‘Hey, I’m Melanie Fiona and I love you. I think you’re amazing and I really want to work with you.’” She ended up on the remix to his single “Fool for You” from the upcoming re-release of The Lady Killer, and a video may be next.
Prior to her album’s release, Melanie will hit the road with Marsha Ambrosius for a nationwide tour, kicking off March 16 in Dallas, Texas.
R&B’s sultriest songbirds are teaming up for a tour this spring. BET has tapped Melanie Fiona and Marsha Ambrosius to co-headline the “BET Music Matters Tour,” with the Canadian and British singers joining forces for a month-long trek across the country.
The pair will hit the road beginning March 16 at Dallas’ South Side Music Hall. During the 16-date outing, they are scheduled to perform in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Baton Rouge, and New York City, wrapping April 13 at Nashville’s Limelight Entertainment Complex. R&B crooner Anthony David will open for them on select dates.
“I love Marsha, I’ve loved her forever, and we recently got to know each other a little better over the last year,” said Melanie, “so it was just a perfect union, perfect great energy, great music on the tour and we couldn’t be more excited.”
Find out when the ladies will be baring their souls in a city near you.

I like the song, but there are some parts that if were structed a little bit differently, it would have the HUGE factor. As long as she sees success - screw my opinion.

Melanie Fiona invited Rap-Up TV onto her tour bus before her show at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre over the weekend. The R&B songbird, who is currently on the road with Marsha Ambrosius, shared details about her sophomore album The MF Life, for which she’s collaborated with Chuck Harmony, Jack Splash, Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis, Salaam Remi, and more.
“I’ve pushed myself creatively to go in places, to become a little more vulnerable, to show a sexier side, to use my voice as a different instrument on this album,” explained Melanie.
The Grammy-nominated soulstress also provided her thoughts on the state of female pop/R&B music. “I feel like what is happening, in my opinion, is that everybody is trying to outdo everyone else in fashion, in racy lyrics, in your style,” she stated. “Just be yourself and people will appreciate your individuality more.”
Lady Gaga was one artist she singled out for her originality. “Someone who I really admire in this industry is Lady Gaga ’cause Lady Gaga has been Lady Gaga forever,” she added. “When you’re the real deal, you are who you are. What she’s based in is true classical training and real vocal ability and a performer.”
Look for the second part of our interview with Melanie where she discusses the guests on her album, growing up with fellow Canadian Drake, and which singers left her starstruck.

She's having label issues I believe and the song hasn'tcaught fire at radio so I smell push backs.

"Gone And Never Coming Back" is uneventful. Whether it became a hit or not, it's not the type of single to build interest. With no performances or video, it doesn't seem like they were ready to spend any money on it either.

They are just delaying too much to announce a second single, I hope its ''Change the Record'' It might be her best single ever!

Had we seen this? This song should have been the follow up to 'It Kills Me'. ^It was the 2nd single in Canada and the UK. I still love her debut. My local urban station was one of the stations that kept GITMR afloat on the R&B chart because it was in heavy rotation. "Monday Morning" was one of my favs from the album. Does anyone know if it was released as a single in the U.S.? I'm really surprised that "Gone and Never Coming Back" didn't do that well at UAC & Urban that song is very Alicia Keys in style.

Not in the least surprised that "Gone and Never Coming Back" underperformed. I said from the first time I heard it the song was way too pop for her core audience.

That is true GANCB is tad bit Pop. It's the perfect example of something working for one artist and not working for another.

She needs another huge hit, infact she needs multiple ones, while she can sing, that is simply not enough. If her album were to be released it wouldn't do as well as she would like, because she doesn't have that song thats a hit yet. Her current single that she has out, almost doesn't have a direction.

True. There needs to be visibility and interest before the album is released. No buzz for Melanie right now. Get those good records out there!

You're right, no buzz! i thought she had label issues re delivering a complete album? Anyway, this album has to be pushed back because if released now, it certainly will flop big time.
I loved all of the released songs from her debut album and 'bang , bang' was great!

Now it seems that in her case she's gonna have to revamp her music, because something just isn't clicking.
