The first single from Todd Smith. It samples "Looking For A Perfect Beat" and interpolates "Planet Rock", both performed by Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force. It peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 in 2006.
I thought it was hot even though it was a "Lose Control" clone. The hook is the best part of the song IMO.

Objectively, it's not that great, but I enjoyed it while it was out and don't mind hearing it now either. I think I just have a soft spot for LL Cool J, to be honest.

Always liked this joint more as an instrumental tbh, I remember this being played all over when it first came out though.

I loved it - the production is hypnotic. This quickly peaked at #4 due to strong digital sales, and plummeted thereafter. Airplay was lacking; it didn't even make Top 40 at CHR/Pop.
I always thought this would have been the perfect opportunity to pair LL with Janet Jackson and turn it into more of a back-and-forth repartee (sort of like "Promiscuous"). That's a duet I always wanted to happen.

The breakdown in the song is basically the beat for Control Myself. |
