Has anyone noticed a trend on stations like KIIS and Z100 lately? They have been playing a lot of dance music...KIIS, well their music is always kind of out there, but they have been playing some dance tracks, Angel City, In-Grid, went early on Sugababes plus some others. Z100 has played Lasgo, Roc Project, M.V.P. f/ Stagga Lee and Angel City a good bit. Personally, I like dance music so this doesn't bother me, but I was wondering if there was anything that has triggered this trend.

Well KIIS started adding a lot of dance music after KDLD 1031 (the former dance station) turned Indie... I thought it was to try to get the dance fans over to them.

KHTS used to play a fair amount of dance music. Q100/Atlanta has also been dance-friendly.

Z100 has always been keen on dance music. The reason it seems unusual is because KIIS and Z100 are really the only CHR/Pop stations out there that play dance. The genre has really died at radio with the overabundance of hip-hop.

Yes, Z100 has always played a lot of dance music, even during the mid-90s when their playlist was predominantly alternative (kind of like how WBBO is now). And then we also have WKTU which is practically all dance music.

Shocking! :o KIIS played Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400" tonight That figures. XM drops KIIS FM for Kiss XM (their own in-house CHR) and then KIIS FM starts mixing in some dance music. Oh well, I still don't miss the 18 minute stopsets...

Kiss XM does need more dance music. The only dance songs they play here and there is ROC Project "Never" & DJ Sammy "heaven" I love dance, but a lot of it is very regional in appeal. A national CHR like Kiss XM shouldn't be playing songs that aren't national hits. With XM, you can just tune to BPM to hear dance hits anyway.
