It seems the more I hear from them these days, the more preachy they are. Shame, I used to quite enjoy them. I don't think they're any less "preachy" than they've ever been, and they're covering important social topics while doing so. I've never really understood why a person can't appreciate significant lyrics because they feel they're being "preached". Isn't the whole point of having lyrics to spread some kind of message? Agree with you absolutely. Rise Against has always had socially-aware lyrics as well. Not sure why these would be a problem now.

There used to be a subtlety (some songs didn't sound overly "social" and preachy when you first listen to that, whereas they've recently given us.. "Hero of War" and "Help" beat dead horses & milk 'em for what they're worth), that's where the difference lies.
At least this one isn't dated, where the currently major single is. They've always taken themselves too seriously, which wasn't a terrible issue before those things got way in front of the songs.

Maybe they should be taken seriously.

Second listen and already I can't remember a more immediate Rise Against single that sonically resonated with me this much. Kinda makes me wish I was familiar with the song before hearing it played live a month ago.
For as many huge radio hits as they've had, I do feel like that's kind of been pushing their hand these past few years, unfortunately, in terms of how their music has evolved into a broader, radio-rock sound. At least they're still a very humble socially-conscious band.

^ Are you moved or dissappointed by it?
I am hugely moved by it, personally, one of their best protest videos to date.

Sucks that it's sold only that much and it's about to fall off.

I think 200,000 is good for an alternative act that gets no crossover airplay on Pop/Hot AC/AC, etc...

Yeah they usually sell steadily with their albums and reach gold status by the time they release their next cd.

I saw the video the other day for this. It was very powerful and well done. The song is great too, as per usual Rise Against. I've been meaning to buy this album, but I just haven't done it yet.
