oh thats really cool! I liked Rhett back in the 90s, saw him open for some headliners a few times. I did a search on his son and found this...http://www.facebook.com/thomasrhettmusic Apparently he's on Big Machine. Thats great for him to be getting on a cut of a CD that will probably sell very well! Jason Aldean cut one of his song on his latest album.

This was on Thomas' facebook...He got his very first cut (I Aint Ready to Quit) on Jason Aldeans latest record, "My Kind of Party." He also recently just signed a record deal with Big Machine Lable Group in hopes of pursuing his dream of being a country music artist.

The first winners song to ever be a big enough hit to have a video made with it! This will be really cool to see! Maybe even push it into the top 10 quicker! I know people who never even watched Idol who have heard that song on the radio and became a fan of it. Really great to see things happening so well for Scotty.

Kelly and Ruben both got videos too but it's nice that they're doing one for Scotty as well. I wonder what the "storyline" is going to be.

No, A moment like this was a Hot 100 #1 and broke a record previously held by The Beatles for the biggest jump to #1. Carrie's Inside your heaven was also a Hot 100 #1 (didn't have a video though), I don't know about Ruben but I'm sure it was #1 too. But it's great that they decided to make a video for ILYTB, it shows they really support Scotty.

They were #1s by sales, not by radio airplay. Scottys is really the only one to be a true radio hit.
I don't remember Kelly and Ruben but then again I didn't watch those videos channels and internet videos were still a newer thing back then.

The other coronation singles weren't really aimed at being actual singles, rather just promo releases to tide the fans over. Although as others pointed out, it doesn't discount that two of the other idols got videos for their coronation songs.

No. Good for Scotty that this song is getting airplay, but other winners' songs have been radio hits as well and ILYTB would not be the first to get substantial airplay. ILYTB is doing really well, but there's no need to make it something it isn't in Idol lore.

It just made the top 20 and it's slowing down. It's true that it's done WAY better than people predicted, but I would call it "a radio hit" if it makes the top 10 (imo).

Of course it's not done, it's supposed to slow down at some point, but it hasn't reached the top 10 yet and we don't know if it'll get there (hopefully it will) so it's not a radio hit to me yet.

It has slowed down some....the 5 spot jump this past week doesn't matter much. It's all about how close the songs are on the chart, and how much audience is being gained. Scotty's 1st 4 weeks on the chart were all over 3 million in gains, and this week he barely scraped 2 million.
I'm not saying the song's doing poorly--it's obviously doing well (even though I don't like it). But it is still slowing down some, and I'd be surprised if it does 2 million this week...it's still gaining well but its probably going to do more like 1.5-1.7 million this week.
It could make the top 10, though. They got a quick start and are probably thinking, why not go all out? Radio has been pretty welcoming. I never doubted the song's potential, but I've been hoping it would stall soon so he can get a better single out. I like the kid's voice ok but I'm not a fan of poorly written cheesy coronation songs..

How fast can the turnaround on a video be? They shouldn't take too long to get this one out there.

It's amazing how quickly some people forget that! That still is the best 'coronation' song for Idol outside maybe David Cook's "Time of My Life"

According to an online report, Scotty is estimated to sale 38000-43000 for his Walmart EP! Thats pretty good considering it was the only music outlet selling the EP while the other new released were in all outlets! This projects a top 5 Country debut and top 10 Top 200 debut! hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi

^That is AMAZING!! I just saw this review of the EP on Roughstock.com Scotty McCreery - American Idol Season 10 HighlightsBy: Matt Bjorke Last Updated: June 30, 2011 7:06 PM From the very moment I saw Scotty McCreery audition on Idol, I had a feeling he was going to do well. As each week progressed on American Idol's tenth season, those feelings only became cemented, even as friends online and around me were skeptical, including people in Nashville. Most of this was due to Scotty trotting out Josh Turner tunes at nearly every turn. Thankfully absent from this new EP American Idol Season 10 Highlights are Josh Turner songs. Instead what we get are four strongly produced covers from the show and Scotty's coronation single as the winner of the show. We'll start with the exclusive track on this disc. Produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not" is a good recording of the new classic by Thompson Square. While I could've done without the female harmony vocalist here - mainly because Scotty's a solo artist - the song is interesting with inventive piano fills and different guitar fills in the mix to help differentiate the song from the original. His version of "The River" is strong as well and it certainly should find Garth Brooks honored that a young kid would want to record his inspirational co-write with Victoria Shaw, particularity since the song is older than singer singing it. "Amazed" is pretty straight-up power balladry (produced by Mark Bright here), but it may appeal to fans who never took to Richie McDonald's voice. The album's lone new song (written by Brett James, Ester Dean & Ronnie Jackson)y6 is that coronation single and to the surprise of many in Nashville and country radio (but not me), "I Love You This Big" has found Scotty McCreery an immediate star on the radio. While he'll most definitely have to follow the song up with another hit to be a qualified success, I have a feeling a few years down the line Scotty McCreery will prove to be in the same league as Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, a certified American Idol star. Oh, one other thing, Scotty certainly doesn't sound too much like Josh Turner so if you're thinking that's what you'll get here, you'll be surprised. His voice is a pliable mature instrument but it's more of a tenor than a straight out baritone, a la Paul Brandt or John Anderson. Buy: Must go to Walmart stores. Sold out online. www.roughstock.com/reviews/scotty-mccreery-american-idol-season-10-highlights

Of course Kelly, Ruben, and Clay never had the advantage of iTunes, you had to go to the store and pay $4 for the single. The one Winner that had a huge hit with their coronation single was David Cook. No matter how well Scotty does, I doubt he will ever be first in anything, as there have been many seasons and many contestants that have done well. Just be happy that he is doing great.

Didnt Fantasia also reach #1 with "I Believe" ?
Also, Im happy this song is doing well on the Country Charts. Fingers crossed that he can sneak in the top 10 and then move on to the next single. This is actually great promo for his debut album this fall. Im sure we'll have a new single in late August.

It did ok on the R&B format but it didn't hit #1 that airplay chart, it hit #12.

The log jam on the charts really hurt the momentum this song started with. Its still gaining spins but so is all the other songs that were stuck around it little by little. With George and Toby gaining on everyone in the 12-20 range, it looks like this song along with the ones that were right infront or behind it may have peaked in the teens. mid June thru mid July has been a rough month on the charts thanks to the top 10 that pretty much set there for 4-5 weeks.

^So you think Billy, Rodney, and the Eli Young Band have peaked then, just because the chart slowed down?
I highly doubt that. They've all been gaining healthy amounts of airplay. The chart has seen slowdowns before, and it will pick back up and the position gains will come. I don't know where Scotty is going to peak, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Billy and Rodney pick up top 5 hits before all is said and done, and either of them could go to #1 with the rate they've been moving (even with the slowdown). The Eli Young Band will probably pick up their first top 10 hit, too. "Crazy Girl", despite slipping from 16-21 these past 2 weeks, has moved up consistently and quicker than all their past singles, and has already hit 500,000 downloads, aka Gold status.
Scotty might be able to make the top 10. We'll see how much longer this gains or if Mercury will want to put out a strong song from the upcoming album soon. But Taylor and probably The Band Perry will go recurrent this week, so most of the songs in Scotty's range (himself included) should have a chance to pick up at least 2 spots when the new chart comes out Monday.
