A couple of Spears' albums probably could be upped in certs-0 but, labels are not interested in certifying older product.
For all of her titles, Janet Jackson probably could see an upgrade of 8 million-9 million if the labels bothered to update her albums. I would not count on it- we can just say she's shipped around 35 million units in the USA.
WB reported Madonna's U.S. albums tally as 75 million in December 2009. Even accounting for in-between tallies, she likely has some titles that should be upped in certification. Again, though, not a label priority.

Any suggestions on future Soundscan catalog threads? Bands no one on Pulse or you care about, but I do I like that idea, please don't forget The Cardigans seriously, I'd be more interested in a Top Bands/Groups thread than a male artist's one

Thanks!
Never thought Brandy was so low. Especially, since her debut is certified 4x platinum. I guess the music clubs make up the difference.
And nearly all of Janet's titles should be re-certified. But that's really up to the label/artist. When you count the music clubs:
Control: 6x platinum Rhythm Nation: 8x platinum janet: 8x platinum Design of a Decade: 4x platinum The Velvet Rope: 4x platinum All For You: 3x platinum

Added: Aaliyah, Brandy, Mary J. Blige, Monica and Taylor Swift. Thank you! But could you double-check the numbers for Brandy's "Full Moon"? The last time Billboard reported them, they stood at 1.1 million.

Blackout isn't certified cuz it is supposed to be the 'flop' album while Circus was the 'comeback' album. Since Circus is 1x Platinum, certifying Blackout as Platinum as well would make the comeback less of an impact? I heard this somewhere.

How much does it cost for the label to have an album certified or re certified? I remember reading that it was around US$300... or was it US$700? either way, it's such a small amount that I don't understand why they don't bother with this

I heard this somewhere. they they shouldn't certify anything else after BOMT was 14x cuz anything lower than that would be "a flop"

Especially if that said catalog album is only shifting 50 copies a week (which is the general ballpark many of these older diva albums are) there doesn't seem to be any rush to re-certify it.

I doubt they're thinking that deeply into it, but anyone who follows pop culture the past five years knows that Blackout was a low for Britney whether it be personally or commercially, one doesn't need official certification numbers to know that. But then again they didn't seem to take any time to certify Femme Fatale 1xp even though it's currently only at 520k-ish

^Yes- that's why for newer titles, SoundScan is much better to go by than certs. Both [i[American Life[/i] and "Confessions on a Dance Floor" are certified platinum- and, obviously, they're not equally successful.

for all of her drops Christina has still sold more than a lot of these girls. Mi Reflejo+ Just Be Free included. Plus Burlesque takes a turn on things and is now going to reach 500,000 a big improvement from Bionic.

So, Christina's total sales are around 20mm right? That's higher than I thought she had. Pretty impressive.
Any chance we can get some info on the latin divas - Shakira, Paulina Rubio and Thalia?

Of course Cher gets some credit, but she has never been a huge seller and only has two cuts on the soundtrack.

^True, some fans probably got the soundtrack for Cher. Nonetheless, with eight of 10 tracks, Aguilera gets the credit in the books.
