Fairly new to the electronic music scene. Not going to lie, I was definitely inspired to discover it more because of some of the pretty hardcore beats/synths use in "Born This Way" (the album). So, anyone have any good underground electronic club artists/album?
I'm mainly looking for artists that are electronic but have heavy elements of metal music in them. Thanks!

Hmm, I'm not sure if electronic music with heavy metal influence is a common thing...
I can recommend you some electronic music without the heavy metal elements if you want...

Heavy metal is not my thing but if you want EDM and/or electronic music with some heavy metal or an electronic rock band, I recommend anything from Pendulum. I do like their album from 2010 called "Immersion" and I especially love the song "The Island Part 1: Dawn". Pendulum - ImmersionYou might be interested in their other albums: Pendulum - Hold your colourThis is a classic album from Prodigy in 1997 in which it had synthpunk, breakbeat, alternative dance, hip hop, etc. Its called "The fat of the land". Check out the singles "Breathe", "Firestarter". The Prodigy - The Fat of the LandAnd although this is a techno band from Germany, Scooter had a song that used a rock alternative heavy metal kindish song called "Fire" in which the song was on the soundtrack for Mortal Kombat Annihilation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r32LcBqiv7I

No problem. Forgot about this album. Its considered one of the best from Depeche Mode called "Violator". Its alternative dance, synthpop, rock with some good dark synths to go along with it. Check out the singles "Enjoy the silence", "Personal Jesus", "Policy of truth" etc. Depeche Mode - Violator

Erm, Shiny Toy Guns doesn't exactly have "heavy metal," but it is a harder electronic sound. Their first album, "We Are Pilots," is damn-near flawless.

Shiny Toy Guns is pretty good. I'm looking more for a male lead singer but they're pretty good. I'm looking for a bit more electronic too. All the other stuff you guys posted was too hard for me. Thanks for posting though! Keep it up :)

The "industrial rock" genre is a minefield for that. Konam's picks are additionally great.

You did mention "heavy elements of metal music" so don't expect soft sounds LOL. dbhmr has a point in that you might want to look for the "Industrial Rock" genre. These are miscelleneous and isn't as hard as the ones I posted previously and is all male vocals. The first three has rock elements but are more electronic club oriented like trance, house, etc. Armin van Buuren & DJ Shah Feat. Chris Jones - Going Wrongwww.youtube.com/watch?v=G7qEivYkgZMCalvin Harris - I´m Not Alonewww.youtube.com/watch?v=a8TPXFoXO5ADJ Antoine - Underneathwww.youtube.com/watch?v=p02tsqZHqKQForgot about this electronic rock band: Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boywww.youtube.com/watch?v=GyA8zfouG4Y

I'm not sure what you're looking for exists so much really; that marrying of electronic music with everything that inspires Gaga is obviously quite exclusive to her. To be honest the closest thing I can think of, although you've said it may be too 'hard', is Marilyn Manson's The Golden Age of Grotesque. When Gaga says elements of heavy metal/techno whatever, I think she just means smatterings... it's not really that prevalent. That said... Their points of reference aren't too far from Gaga's in places; they're my favourite band. The more upbeat stuff is probably the easiest way in (ie. Strict Machine, Train, Twist, Ooh La La... and their remix of Marilyn Manson's This Is the New Shit). Broadly speaking (just general electronic dance music, if you're new to it), I'd also look at; AIR, Beck (Midnite Vultures, Guero), Royksopp, Chase & Status, Ratatat, Hot Chip (Ready for the Floor), Major Lazer (a bit more reggae in places). Muse's more recent stuff is more electronic (ie. Undisclosed Desires, Supermassive Black Hole). Yah.

Anyone have any songs that sound a little similar to "Heavy Metal Lover" on Born This Way? I think I'm looking for music more along those lines.

I can recommend you some electronic music without the heavy metal elements if you want... I'll take 'em anyways. Just don't say Robyn lol lol, ok. Some electro/nu-disco house artists that I love are: - Fred Falke - Russ Chimes - Fear of Tigers - Diamond Cut - Grum - Starsmith - Barretso - Holy Ghost - Keenhouse - Muffin - Madeon Some electropop/electropop nu-disco pop artists that I like: - Ali Love (Check out his latest album, Love Harder.) - Vanbot - Tesla Boy - Florrie (she has a new EP, Experiments, out right now, and some free downloads on her website.) - Queen of Hearts (only has a few songs that have leaked right now (Freestyle and Where Are You Now) and some remixes, but shows a lot of promise imo. Also is featured on a song on Johan Agebjorn's new album.) - Sally Shapiro - Johan Agebjorn (Has a new, italo disco album, Casablanca Nights, out now) - Anoraak (Try his latest album) - Chromeo - Britt Love ( ex-Mini Viva member is starting off with her solo career. She has a new song available to download on her facebook, I think. Come With Me: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhBzID-CiEs- I Blame Coco (Really liked their singles off their debut album, and Turn Your Back On Love, an album track.) If you want some trance, there are tons of great trance tracks from the late 90s/early 2000s when (imo) trance was at its prime. Some trance classics off the top of my head: Fragma - Everytime You Need Me (Above and Beyond remix) Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above and Beyond remix) CJ Stone - Shining Star (Rising Star remix) Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound of Goodbye (Original, Rising Star, and Above and Beyond remixes) System F - Out of the Blue Gouryella - Gouryella Transa - Supernova Veracocha - Carte Blanche (Original mix) Binary Finary - 1998 (Matt Darey remix) Matt Darey - Beautiful (Original mix) Chicane - Saltwater (Original mix) Blank and Jones - Cream (PVD remix) Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Original and Paul van Dyk mixes) Tenth Planet - Ghosts (Vincent de Moor remix) Barthezz - On The Move (Riva remix) Acension - Someone Surreal - You Take My Breath Away (Tiesto remix) I'm pretty sure you can find most of the stuff I listed on youtube.

Muse and NIN were the two artists that popped into my head when trying to think of songs that are electro, but also catchy. NIN may seem like a bizarre choice, but they have always been so, so catchy to me for the type of band they are. Some of Manson's stuff is also oddly similar to that sounds you seem to want.
Outside of harder stuff, if you are looking for Electro that is good, but not Dr. Luke or Robyn (lol) you may want to check Dragonette. Just a genuinely good electro-pop group-makes the sound fresh and exciting again.

I agree about Dragonette. I really liked some of the songs off of their last album.
A couple more good electro pop artists are Annie and Little Boots. Marina and The Diamonds and Ellie Goulding are great too, although not all of their music is electropop.

The Yeah, Yeah, Yeah's most recent album has this electro-rock sound too. I would suggest Prodigy and Depeche Mode.

Some of Manson's stuff is also oddly similar to that sounds you seem to want. Heavy, but definitely worth checking out. It's more beat-driven than his other stuff and to be honest the imagery really isn't very dissimilar to what Gaga's been doing.

Alternative radio has some good electronic-influenced bands charting. These include...
Plus there's a Korn song that features Skrillex, so it's basically a nu-metal/industrial song with dubstep mixed into it:

If you like remixes, try Richard X. He's produced for people like Annie, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Goldfrapp, etc. and he has some great remixes for artists like Kelis, Dragonette, Belle and Sebastian, etc.
