Well, they're gonna try and re-release this. It could get Top 20 this time around.

Mistake. Should have tried for "Raining", but maybe Three Days Grace or their label is gonna nix that. But still "Completely" is overwhelmingly better than this.

That's strange... they've recently been calling "Raining" the new single. I wonder if there's been a complication with Three Days Grace and/or the label. This isn't 100% nailed on yet, btw. I completely agree with Jamie. ;)

probably the best choice for 2nd single. I bet this can do really well, especially now after a successful lead single and because it is included in the transformers soundtrack album
i'd love to see at some point, best i can as a single (probably this won't happen cause it doesn't fit on active rock radio) but it has the potential to change their status, maybe it can become a new "second chance"..

Releasing "Best I Can" would be an atrocious pick for Active Rock. "Raining" is more likely to be their "Second Chance."

"Raining" is more likely to be their "Second Chance." for active rock, yes i agree about "best i can", but it has the potential to hit on pop. Don't forget that second chance was one of the softest songs of shinedown, but they were established enough on active rock to guarantee them a decent hit. I don't know why but i never found raining as the stand out song of their album. Instead, except die trying and get thru this, my favorite songs are breathe again, best i can, whole world's crazy and completely

I don't have the new album, but is this the same song as "Get Through This" that was released to radio four and a half years ago? If so, I could see this doing very well as I think it's a much better song than "Die Trying." Of course I can't find anything of how well that song charted back then.

Raining and Completely are far better than Get Thru This. Also, does it drive anyone else nuts that it doesn't read Get Through This? Thru should only be used for Drive-Thrus only.

I was expecting "Raining" to be the follow-up single to "Die Trying". I'm also surprised that this song (Raining) hasn't even been release in Canada, considering 3DG being a bit hit on the canadian rock charts.

Raining, Completely or Whole World's Crazy for single #3. come on man, "Best I Can" is the best choice for crossover hit, second chance wasn't rock single at all but due to the success it became huge everywhere

Raining, Completely or Whole World's Crazy for single #3. First of all, I'm disappointed to see that "Get Thru This" only reached #19. I think the first two you mentioned + "You Don't Know Me" would be the leading candidates. "Whole World's Crazy" strikes me more as an album track than a single. There's also three stronger songs, so I would rule that one out straight away. come on man, "Best I Can" is the best choice for crossover hit, second chance wasn't rock single at all but due to the success it became huge everywhere As I've said previously on this thread, I think "Best I Can" would be completely the wrong way to go (no pun intended.) Recent history on Active suggests that releasing slow songs doesn't work for these sort of bands. I actually think "I Will Be There" would be the better option for crossover success, anyway. With similar singles from Daughtry & Nickelback struggling on Pop, though, I think there's a extremely slim chance of Art of Dying actually pushing anything there.

"I Will Be There" sounds like a David Cook song. The singer even sounds like him in it. I could see it charting in the 40's - 30's on pop, and Top 15 on HAC, which is a pretty sizable hit for post-grunge bands these days. Although it also has a huge potential of flopping on both active and CHR/HAC due to the fact they may not be an established-enough band to release a cross-over without any huge success in the past.

I wouldn't bother with the crossovers. It'll just be really low-charting anyway the way HAC's been lukewarm to rock lately.

The one advantage Art Of Dying has despite being only a moderately successful largely unknown post-grunge band is that they're on a major label. Their people know people and know how to get their artists' songs in the right hands to be tested on Hot AC and CHR stations.
I felt from the get-go that "Get Thru This" was a mistake for a second single. I think "Raining" (assuming they worked it out with their label to still feature Adam Gontier) would get them a hit on the level of Apocalyptica's "I Don't Care" that would thus set them up to be able to cross over with a future single. I think "Completely" is also a good choice and makes for a better choice than "Get Thru This" did. If their label would consider pushing this album 5 singles, I think they should go with "Raining", then "I Will Be There", and close out the era with "Completely". If "I Will Be There" is struggling to get traction at rock (which it likely will), they should send "Completely" for rock adds while "I Will Be There" takes however many months it needs to gain traction on Hot AC/CHR.
