It's the follow-up to "You Are a Tourist" on Triple A, so I'm assuming it'll get an adds date for alternative pretty soon.
EDIT: Just listened to this, it's pretty folky sounding, so now I'm not sure if this is actually going to alt. or not.

.... Really? I hope not. This would be like my 10th choice for a single. So many better radio songs on this record.
"Underneath The Sycamore" "Codes and Keys' "Doors Unlocked and Open"
would all be much better choices.

Death Cab for Cutie have never struck me as that kind of band that's adamant about pushing "the obvious singles" in the first place.
If anything, they probably record immensely catchy songs like "No Sunlight" and "Underneath the Sycamore" to balance out the content of their live shows and have something that punctuates more in-between many of their more brooding, emotionally dense and ambient material.
I think they deliberately try to keep their most immediate material from being released, frankly. What are the odds, after all, of most any other artist succeeding in having a dramatically edited version of a nearly ten-minute long track ("I Will Possess Your Heart") regardless of how much more radio-friendly the edit turns out, get favored as the lead single than something as tight, concise and hook-heavy as records come?
Concerning this choice, it wasn't what first came to my mind among the deeper cuts, but I feel I can see where they're coming from in selecting this track.

So called this one. This is actually the one I think would do best as a single right now. Also - other than You Are a Tourist, this was the 2nd highest selling song on iTunes from this album for them.

^ So it's the 3rd best seller overall?

This song isn't bad, but it's not what I'd choose. I can see their reasons for releasing this. It should do pretty well.

^ So it's the 3rd best seller overall? Oh no, sorry I phrased that wrong. I just meant that You Are a Tourist is #1, and this is #2. Of course, I haven't looked since like a week after the album came out, so it might've changed by now.

I would have rather have had "Underneath The Sycamore" ten times more than this, but this isn't a terrible choice. If any other band released this, I couldn't see it doing any damage on Alternative, but since "You Are A Tourist" did very well, I can see this hitting Top 10 as well.

I like this more than any of the other songs that have been tossed around as single choices. Good move.

This song's chart run has been extremely underwhelming so far. I would think it would do better since it's coming off a #1? hit.

"Stay Young, Go Dancing" is by far the most ironic song of the year. Ben Gibberd wrote it as a love song to his wife, Zooey Deschanel. The video is a reverse time line of their lives together.
Last week, they announced their separation. Ben should have thought twice about this song.

"Home Is a Fire" is listed as the next single on Wikipedia. Not reliable, but still something.
