ERG says this is going to radio next month. The lead (metal) single is really cool, so I hope this follows suit.

I've been wanting to vote for "In Waves" on the lower end of my countdown, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed.

You have "Built to Fall" as the title, but "In Waves" as the video. ???

Correct. "In Waves" is the lead single worldwide + has a video, so I figured it was worth posting. The studio version of "Built to Fall" hasn't been released yet, as far as I know.

I've been wanting to vote for "In Waves" on the lower end of my countdown, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed. It wouldn't be allowed under the current rules. "Built to Fall" will be eligible once a proper version is released. ... I can already see Dev nodding his head to this.

I just wish there was some way to include metal singles on the weekly countdown. I don't know what criteria would make them eligible, but if we have Triple A songs on one end of the spectrum on the alt/rock forum, I feel like metal belongs just as much, yanno?

Do tell, how many radio stations in North America are pure metal stations? And metal doesn't have it's own official chart, which is mostly why I don't count them.

What metal songs would you be looking to include out of interest? For example, picking the new Suicide Silence single would just look out of place. I think the countdown would lose the "chart dynamic" if we started including these songs. The difference between Triple A & Metal is that Triple A has a chart. If Metal had its own chart they'd be no debate here, but I think things could get messy if we start to include songs that aren't being released to radio. I guess a chart to accommodate this could be created, but Dev & myself already have a lot on our plate with this one.

Well metal does have a mini-format in that many alt/active rock stations have a metal feature where mostly the same singles are played just like with their regular playlists. Sirius Liquid Metal and Music Choice Metal also have similar playlists. My gripe with Triple A is that it already is included in the Hot AC section and is already accommodated there. If Triple A is going to also be included here, I feel like this is the only logical place for metal, and I know I would like to have the option of voting for metal songs. The easiest songs to include would be: 1) Lead singles/songs with music videos off releases listed here: www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=167062) Sirius Liquid Metal's playlist and songs can be searched for here: www.dogstarradio.com/search_playlist.phpIf we made the criteria some minimum # of plays per week to qualify for voting, I would appreciate the addition. And I'm saying basing this off # of plays rather than style. The logic behind the Suicide Silence example you give doesn't fully make sense to me because certain Triple A songs including ones I voted for such as Lissie and Civil Wars make just as little sense when you're putting them next to the heavier active rock acts people are voting for. Chances are Suicide Silence won't make the countdown anyway (I haven't heard the newest song of theirs, and I doubt I'd vote for it if I did). If you guys are worried about keeping track I understand, but I know I personally would make sure to understand your criteria and make sure any metal songs I vote for follow your criteria. And if in doubt, I'll ask like I did with Switchfoot and Dead Letter Circus.

Yeah, I'd say go ahead and vote for metal songs if they at least have a video. Lord knows I'd at least be voting for Bleeding Through singles if they had an album out.

WJRR has started to play this. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they're from Sanford (just north of where I live in the Orlando suburbs). Apparently, the band It's Alive is from here though.

And if in doubt, I'll ask like I did with Switchfoot and Dead Letter Circus. If you remember correctly, I wanted to dispose of the Triple A songs, but I was outvoted, which was understandable as we have quite a few voters that pick Triple A songs and nothing else. My arguement against the potiential selection of Metal songs would be that surely it's not that hard to select 10 songs out of 100-odd that are charting/going for adds on Active, Alt & Triple A.

An album cut called "Forsake Not the Dream" is a free download on iTunes this week, for anyone else interested.

I finally listened to this. I found it a lot weaker and more generic than "In Waves", which may be my favorite of the 4 or 5 Trivium songs that I've heard.
