Looks like this'll probably outpeak "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" here.

Perhaps this can squeeze in a week or two at #1 before the Black Keys.

Also, like the last album, the #1 comes from the second singles. Just thought that was interesting to note.

I'm personally surprised this hit #1. I think it is one of their least edgy and Adult Contemporary-leaning singles to date.
But all the more power to them. I'd like to think this will pave the way for a subsequent #1 or two with "Charlie Brown" and "Hurts Like Heaven". Both would sound stellar on a car stereo driving down the freeway.
Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

And with all those Hot AC leaning stations that play their currents more than most alternative stations, that type of song probably has the best shot of going #1 as long as it's edgy ENOUGH for the rest of the format.

I'm personally surprised this hit #1. I think it is one of their least edgy and Adult Contemporary-leaning singles to date. But all the more power to them. Agreed. I'm not saying payola because I just looked and this song's had a triple-digit bullet for the past three weeks (though its biggest bullet yet is a little suspect). But I am holding up a red flag. It strikes me as very odd that a pleasant enough, but in no way edgy, Coldplay song is #1 on the heels of a fleeting Top 5 hit that just barely went recurrent. (I believe it was actually purged from #40 in what would've been its 20th week.) This after a decent new Bush song hit #1 ten years after "Speed Kills" peaked just outside the Top 10, with only the lukewarm response to Institute and Gavin's poppy solo record in between. It would've made sense for Young the Giant to ascend to the top or for the Black Keys to take it away already, but back to back #1's from Bush and Coldplay kind of annoys me.
