As am I. "Bright Nights, Dark Days" was much better than I anticipated it to be.
Also, hot Dashboard Confessional remake.

Cool logo. Oh, you meant the song. Still kinda missing something. It might grow on me but I doubt it.

Not too bad. Decently catchy and slightly harder than I expected it to be. Possibly Top 10 on Active. Probably peak around #40 on Alternative. I'd expect a similar run to "Crash." I think it's much better than "Champagne," but don't think it will nearly as well.

This is the most I've ever liked a Cavo song and it's not even close. The verses are awesome and the vocal harmonies in the pre-chorus are beautiful. The riff is the heaviest I've heard from them. If it weren't for the chanted "hey"s in the chorus, I would honestly love this song. As it stands, I like it a lot. And "Champagne" gave me a pretty strong anti-Cavo bias.

Champagne sounds the least like the rest of the debut. I feel like I've had this conversation before but I can't remember if it was here or not. Either way, I'll admit that Thick as Thieves has grown on me. Hopefully the rest of the album's good too. I've yet to follow a band starting from their debut and going onwards so it'd be kinda cool if I could finally do that for once.

Caught most of it on the radio just now and though I realized it was Cavo before the end because of hearing the title in the lyrics, I nevertheless felt it was a very average, uninspiring, faceless, mainstream hard rock song.

Agreed. ''Champagne" was poor, but atleast it had personality. This one feels half-baked and rather dull.

A couple of their songs have been tolerable, but nothing that really distinguishes them from the rest of the pack. Their choruses are often very weak, in my opinion. Also, I think we like a lot of the same bands... It's just that I like quite a few hard rock outfits that you dislike strongly.

That reminds me, I still haven't checked out that new Emphatic song you're so sure I'd love! Dangit. *shifty eyes*
My local rock station recently had "Thick As Thieves" on their new music feature 'Hit Or Diss'. It did ok. It was the first time I said hit for one of their singles. Others I had dissed or just not responded to because I was neutral towards them. Out of the blue today, they did Textures - "Reaching Home", which was obviously awesome for me, but now I'm left to wonder, should I treat "Singularity" or "Reaching Home" or both as the official single in my weekly countdown voting.

Haha are you purposely saving your ears from that one? I'm sure it would rival "Blame It on the Boom Boom" & "Kick Ass" for your current favorite on rock radio.

Oh "Blame It On The Boom Boom" isn't THAT high up there. I give it a "Dislike it some" on the RTM surveys, but "Kickass" has company with "Lowlife", "Bitch Came Back", and "Under And Over It" that receive the highly sought after "Dislike it a lot." Emphatic is an exception to me in that all these other bands at one point or another gave me a marginally favorable impression before churning out the recent shit (BSC I'm referring to the two most recent singles only, giving the album the benefit of the doubt). On the other hand, Emphatic came out of the gates with a steaming pile of fun-lovin' ass-grabbin' rock, and as was the case with their brethren in My Darkest Days, and in all honesty, Cavo, that's a difficult impression to overcome.

It's really upsetting me that you're putting Cavo in that company.

I don't think putting "Champagne" in the company of "Porn Star Dancing" is at all unfair. Don't get me wrong, "Champagne" is not as awful, but it's not in a whole different league either. I'm just saying that it's tough for a band to overcome that kind of first impression, and making the point that I'm not all that excited to hear more Emphatic upon hearing "Bounce". Part of why I bring up Cavo and My Darkest Days is to acknowledge the possibility that I might like some Emphatic songs despite hating "Bounce". I like Cavo's "Thick As Thieves" and think "Crash" is just fine, and after hearing MDD's "Every Lie" and their cover of "Come Undone", they've at least hinted at the possibility that they have redeeming moments too. This all amounts to the admission that I may have to give Emphatic a chance before completely railing on them, but they are an EMPHATIC 0-for-1 with me thus far.

Champagne is really not that bad of a song. It gets undeserved flak.

^ That was already announced 4 posts up. You should really only post a re-entry if there has been some time since it has fallen out of the Top ___ and has returned.
