They've just released a video for this, so figured it was worth posting. I'd love to see a third single sent to radio, but I hear they're already working on the next album.

it appears this will be single #3 Based on anything more than the music video? Do you have a source for this comment? While I would want "Sextape", this would be awesome too!

^ That link doesn't say anything about a radio release, though.

Yeah, I think the writer is assuming that "Beauty School" is a single because of the video.

I'm hoping that writer is correct though, cuz this album deserves a third single at radio. And as I stated before, I'm a "Sextape" fanatic (sounds like I have a bit of a fetish out of context). But "Beauty School" might be the album's best shot at a single that can have them return to alternative radio above "You've Seen The Butcher" and do better on active rock than "Sextape" would have. I could see "Beauty School" being a top 30 on both formats if released.

It might be a bit to late though. I could see Top 50 on both formats, but higher on active.

If they were to have any shot left at all, it should've happened as soon as "Butcher" tumbled off the charts. Radio promotion for this album, beyond the title track, has unfortunately seemed pretty half-assed.

Radio promotion for this album, beyond the title track, has unfortunately seemed pretty half-assed. I don't fully agree with that as "You've Seen The Butcher" stuck around on the active rock chart for at least 20 weeks and almost hit the top 10 as a follow-up to "Diamond Eyes" which stuck around slightly longer and barely hit the top 10. While the drop-off was much more severe on alternative, when you talk about drop-off in chart performance from a lead single to a follow-up single, the difference on active rock was pretty frickin' tiny. I would argue this is their most successful era at active rock radio already (unless you consider Around The Fur as having two major golds for the format that weren't all that big in their time), while being about on par with Saturday Night Wrist on alternative radio success. And given the direction of Alternative radio, it's not like Deftones exactly fits in that well anymore.

I don't follow Active anywhere near as closely as Alternative, so I stand corrected. And given the direction of Alternative radio, it's not like Deftones exactly fits in that well anymore. Which is a shame, because you'd think that despite their usual heaviness, their proven track record of integrity and die-hard fans would grant them a lifetime free pass on the format at this point. My Active-leaning Alt station certainly did their part, at least.

Deftones. Too smart for active, too heavy for alternative. We need a third genre of radio station, called good music.

Featuring Deftones, Sevendust, Fair To Midland, Hurt, Dredg, Karnivool, System Of A Down, and Porcupine Tree among others. I would add A7X, RHCP, Bush, Incubus, and several others to that list, but they're already fairly well-represented at radio that they wouldn't need the good music format in order for them to be included at radio.

Yes, but at good music, good music must be played. Good music must be heard.

Oh they'd get played. I'm just saying they wouldn't be the artists unique to that format. I've had fantasies about starting an "Alternative" station in NYC that just played what I deem to be good music. Good luck to me finding the money, time, and business savvy to do that...and good luck to me getting ratings with that kind of a format when half of NYC is a Vampire Weekend-craving hipster. Not that this station would leave Vampire Weekend off its playlist, but "A-Punk" would not receive a single spin if I had my way.
