Four newly recorded songs will join a host of high-profile, previously released duets on a new Aretha Franklin collection, "Jewels in the Crown: All-Star Duets With the Queen." The set is due Nov. 13 via Arista and is led by the single "Put You Up on Game" with Fantasia," which hits radio Oct. 1. This could be something special!

Go Aretha! Still one of the great few talents among Mary, Chaka, and Teena Marie holding it down!

This is great news.
I know this is a dream come true for Fantasia.
I know she must be thrilled to have recorded a song with her musical idol and for it to be the lead single.
That's just awesome. I can't wait to hear it.

October 1? It may not be eligible for Grammys this year, then. You'd think they would do it one day earlier to qualify.

I don't know how this song will sound. I hope it's not Aretha trying to be too young.

From the title it sounds like it might be something like Aretha's duet with Mary J Blige "Don't Waste You Time"

I like the song. Its cute, nothing special or amazing. Its what I expected. Arethas collabo with Mary J. was better and had more heart in it.

I really like this. I really didn't expect it to be this good and I expected it to sound more gospel since we have two of the most powerful and soulful voices ever. But these ladies have managed to keep the soul and make it contemporary r & b all in one.
It's just as good as "my boob" actually, better. Since it's now released is it eligible for Grammy consideration? IT should win because it is the best R & B duet THIS YEAR and actually has real singing. "Let me put you up on game", can't get that out of my head.
Bravo ladies, I expected a lot of voice fighting but there is NONE. Who say's women can't do duets without screaming and trying to one up the other. This proves it can be done.

This is quite good. I wasn't sure what to expect from this pairing, but I like it.

This proves it can be done. i wanna know if it would be nominated for any grammy's 2, i need to kno I think it could be nominated this year because it already has 70 stations playing it with +84 spins (and it's only been released to the internet a couple days ago). It is currently at #52 on Urban AC, I don't know if a song is eligible when it starts to be played on radio, or, after the official add date. I would think any significant amount of airplay would make it automatically eligible. I think it'll be nominated and I think it will win because it is good. Aretha Franklin sounds better then she's sounded in years, she sounds just as she does on her old hits, that voice honestly puts people to shame at how effortlessly great she sounds here. She is killing it on this track, I can't see her being ignored on a track where she's singing better then ever. Of course, Fantasia is just amazing here. Honestly Aretha hasn't sounded this good in a long time. She has only one once in the category of R & B duo or group that was way back in 1998 with George Michael. She's due for another grammy award and this song, is fire, I wasn't even looking forward to it because I honestly didn't think it would be all that great, this is totally great. I'm getting this album because I like this song so much. I also want to here the John Legend and new Mary J blige track. (It's great that she picked Fantasia as the first single). Honor!!!! Actually, it's great that she even picked her to duet with, but releasing a single is even better. She's been nominated a total of 5 other times. 2000 w/Mary J. Blige 1992 w/Luther Vandross 1990 (nominated twice) w/ James Brown "Gimme Your Love" w/Whitney Houston "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" 1988 (won) w/ George Michael "I knew you were waiting for me" 1986 w/Eurythmics

This song is good especially considering the garbage being recently released, but Aretha already has like 17 Grammies, while there are so many others who don't even have 2 or 3 Grammies. Let some other women of her generation and younger net some Grammies.

I really wanted to like the song, but does she really have to throw in old ass slang?
Her voice is still great, but I don't like the song.

So if they have to give Aretha another one in order for Fantasia to get her first, so be it.

I still like this, but really I don't see it as necessarily meriting a Grammy...

If Aretha could win a Grammy for the train wreck that was her cover of "A House Is Not A Home", then anytime she opens her mouth to sing, it is meriting a Grammy because that mess was horrible.
The song lyrics may not be groundbreaking but this is the best Aretha has sounded in years and IMO Fantasia can do no wrong vocally. This will be the only single from Aretha's new album, if it becomes any kind of a hit and is eligible I don't see them overlooking it.

They might give Franklin a token nomination, but I have to imagine there are more deserving songs eligible that could take home the actual award.

U obviously have not been paying much attention the Grammy's. Aretha will win the Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group award with Fantasia for this song EASILY. Its not even a question. Ms Franklin doesn't get "token nominations," she wins the award. And this song is eligible for a Grammy. The cut-off date is Sept 30. and as long as the song is being played now, its made the eligibility period.

This sounds like a Babyface production. Any confirmation? Sounds like The Underdogs to me. They are usually the go to producers over a Arista and J
