This is my favorite song Anita ever released. Her vocals are always beautiful, but I really love her interpretation of these lyrics. They're about the "fairy tales" of love and life that you believe when you're young, only to realize as you grow older that these expectations rarely come to fruition or play out as expected. While Anita and her music have always had a strong jazz influence, she really ventured further into jazz than she had previously with this song. It's parent album, Compositions, grew to become my favorite Anita album as well. "Fairy Tales" went to #8 R&B in 1991. There was a music video for this song, but it looks like it has been removed from YouTube.

I'm not a fan of hers, but this is a really excellent song.
