It spent 6 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and I believe it was the number 1 song of 1972. It was the number 5 song of the decade. My favorite song of 1972.

It spent 6 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and I believe it was the number 1 song of 1972. It wasn't. That was "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", which also spent 6 weeks at #1. This is, however, a great song.

Great songs from the 1970s for sure. It was one of the favorites of the Millennium back home.

I've always liked this song. 1972 was a good year for music, IMO. Anyway, there a similar lyric in Fly by Sugar Ray: "twenty-five years old my mother God rest her soul"
