I disagree. If it were that easy, you'd see tons of people making comebacks. Success doesn't last forever.
Mary and Mariah made comebacks because the material was good. It wasn't because of their track records because in that case, albums like "Glitter" or "Love & Life" wouldn't have flopped when they sold millions of albums prior to those releases. If the material sucks then people won't bother to buy it or play it which is why so many of the R&B veterans have been struggling.

Well it's not like the veteran artists' albums are exactly flying off the shelves. The reason why most of the veteran R&B girls sold so much was because they came out at a time where people actually bought albums. Now most people view them as being washed up. I am hoping for a Brandy comeback though. I also think that most people have high expectations if you've been in the industry for a while. Janet, Monica, and Brandy have not been delivering. Their recent material is definitely not on par with their other material. If one of them would have recorded this, that would have been a huge step backwards. I personally disagree with your second paragraph. I think Monica and Brandy put out good materials these past few years, Brandy got her best review yet on her last album and Monica's last album was just great overall in my opinion. I even enjoy Janet's last effort while many didn't which I don't understand. I think it has to do more with the promotion then the material because Monica and Brandy put out great singles in my opinon on their last effort. Janet picks the wrong choice of a first single on her last effort, I personally think if she would have chosen "So Excited" then the turnout would have been different. So I disagree strongly on the materials have been weak because I think that is so untrue. The record label just sit around while the first single just died out and wait for so long for a second single and totally put no promotion into it. There is could be chance that people are not feeling them anymore so that can be a reason on why they are not selling.

If the material sucks then people won't bother to buy it or play it which is why so many of the R&B veterans have been struggling. You are missing the point entirely. If a veteran artist who has proven to be a big seller with credibility makes a comeback with a hit single, they will sell more albums than any new artist. It's really that simple. If you would have given "Be without u" or "we belong together" to Rihanna or whatever random female artist the success would not have been as massive for either song or album. Thats the point im trying to make. A veteran artist will always sell more records with a hit single than a new artist with a hit single because they have a proven track record that will make people more likely to buy their album over a new artists. Of course a veteran wont sell with a flop single, but if they get that that hit single, they will easily outsell any of these new girls. And success will last as long as a record label is willing to pay for it. You pay for top producers, song writers, marketing, promo and yes a any veteran will make a comeback and get airplay. The problem is labels dont put that much effort into artists anymore.

Reminds me of Ciara videos This reminded me of the days when Brandy ("Top of the World"), Monica ("The First Night"), Aaliyah ("Are You That Somebody") danced in their videos.

At least her video isn't as dated as her material.

I really would not call this dated. I call it, er, flashback, or even a little 90s throwback groove. This appears to be a decent sized hit for her. She just needs to waste no time following it up with a next hot song.

Yeah I didn't want to like it since sampling "Human Nature"is so played out but it's cool. She looks a lot like MC Lyte in the video, it's weird lol

I like this song. Even though it sounds old, it definitely has a certain vibe to it that is likable.

This is a pleasant song. It's disposable, but completely harmless.
