Do you remember the 1979 cover version of Classic IV's "Spooky" by the Atlanta Rhythm Section? I heard this song on the October 20, 1979 AT40: The 70's episode.
This is a song suitable for Halloween.

Not a huge fan of this one. I prefer "Do It Or Die" and "Imaginary Lover".

"Spooky" was originally an instrumental recording by Mike Sharpe. It went to #57 on the Hot 100 in 1967. The following year, Classics IV released a version with lyrics that went to #3 on the Hot 100. Atlanta Rhythm Section's cover went to #17 on the Hot 100 in 1979.
I prefer Classics IV version over ARS's. I love their version. I also like Dusty Springfield's cover.

Dusty Springfield's version (b-side to the 1970 single "How Can I Be Sure")

I also prefer the Classics IV version. My favorite by ARS is the 1981 hit "Alien." I belive I did a topic for that song a few years back.

Casey played the Atlanta Rhythm Section and Classics IV version on AT10 (separate years) on his Halloween spotlight shows.

I prefer Classic IV and Lydia Lunch to this one. Not bad if you like Steely Dan type stuff, though. That's what it reminds me of.

I love both versions of this. I think the original is superior, but this cover is damn smooth. Great Halloween tracks.
