Uh...the two front-runners would likely be sent to Hot AC over Active.
“We are getting ready to release another single; we’re just not sure which one to release yet,” Arnold told Alternative Addiction during a recent interview. I think it might be the song “What’s Left” or maybe “Heaven.”

Yeah, I think both of those songs would struggle to even chart on Active at this point. As far as rock radio goes, It's "Time of My Life" or bust.

The state of radio isn't conducive to cross-overs anymore. They'd have to target whichever format they're going after. The era's been one huge flop on Hot AC so I'd probably say they should keep trying on Active instead.

Well it looks obvious they're directing the next single to HAC, unless they want to kill any momentum 3DD has going at all on active. Title is the best option for Active, and "Heaven" should be heavily pushed to HAC to save their asses on that format.

Given the current trend of doing double-releases, I wish they'd just do TOML on Active and Heaven on Hot AC. Solves all problems, wooo. /dreaming

Double releases always makes more sense. Heaven won't do anything here.

I have no clue what they are doing this era! ??? ??? ???
"When You're Young" never had an adds date at HOT AC and peaked at #28 i think and the follow up "Everytime You Go" had no adds date at HOT AC and peaked at #41. Now they are waiting forever for a 3rd single that without a push won't do anything either. I know both songs charted on the ROCK SIDE but when i first bought the CD i immediately thought "When You're Young", "Everytime You Go", "Heaven" & "Back To Me" all screamed HITS to me, especially at what i thought was there CORE format HOT AC. I think they should re release the cd and send out an official 1st single with promotion behind it or something. i just can't help but believe if "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy & I know It" among other songs are charting, 3DD could chart just like The Goo Goo Dolls & Train if more people knew they had something out. My dad is 58 and his fav. newer band is 3DD and he said he had no idea they'd put anything out since "Let me be Myself", but loved the new CD i bought him! ;)

^The thing about 3DD is they're famous enough that the adds date doesn't particularly matter. Stations would jump on it as soon as they got it. The Goo Goo Dolls also haven't done well at all this era. The reason both of those are stagnating is because their singles were mediocre, at best. 3DD has had at least one smash on their past two albums. There really isn't one here.

My local active rock station just played "Time Of My Life" yesterday on their new music feature "Hit Or Diss." Perhaps it's going out to radio in the next week?

Home got top 10 on Hot AC by the skin of their teeth, which is basically where they've been at in later eras but you're definitely right on the money with Notbroken peaking at #26. All That You Are off of Transformers underperformed, capping at #15 but when something like that can do that without much promotion outside the movie (they only did GMA) and no video, it's not too bad. They're still doing miles better than 3 Doors Down this era. Which is sad because I think they'd kill if they sent Heaven/Back to Me to Hot AC but they're just twiddling their thumbs.

I agree "Heaven" & "Back To Me" are great songs that have universal appeal and would do great if released and promoted! I actually thought "All That You Are" by The Goo's was the best ballad i had heard from them since "Here Is Gone" imo, #15 these days with all the competition and diversity on the format is alot better of a hit than say 5 years ago peaking at #15, but i like to see Hot AC Top 40 competitive like that, i believe it will force artists to write stronger songs and remember the passion that made radio and fans connect with them in the first place instead of just being able to fart and get a top 10 hit because your a core artist.

Even though it didn't peak high, there is something to be said about the resilience "Every Time You Go" had in its chart run.............to the point it was already eligible to go recurrent as it descended below the Top Twenty. And that single screamed Hot AC rather than Active Rock.
They would be fools not to keep pushing here. Especially seeing that rock music is only further phasing out of popularity on Hot AC presently overall.

^^ Yeah, they really can't do cross-releases anymore. Which is why they either need to do doubles to have songs for each format or just focus on Active because their run at Hot AC this era is just painful.

And if they're predicating calling it quits on the fact the lead single was their first to fail to go Top Ten of any album of theirs to date...........then that's ridiculous too, because "When You're Young" wasn't all that radio-friendly to begin with, and dragged too much in its tempo to really leap out at Active listeners. The title track, had it been released as the lead single, would have made the Top Ten. I'm convinced of that. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

I don't think 3DD fit on Active anymore. So HOT AC should be the main focus and is "Heaven" not a hit song?
I think if they had a Mainstream Rock genre that concentrated on new rock acts like 3DD, Daughtry, Theory, Matchbox Twenty, Nickelback, The Fray, 3 Days grace, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Superheavy, Fitz & The Tantrums and not classic rock but new rock not quite fit to be played with System Of A Down, Tool, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch without POP & HIP HOP that would be a better fit for them. Not AAA or Alternative but like a Rock station somewhere between Matchbox Twenty and Staind.........
