Unfortunately, since they haven't had a song chart in 7 years, I'll be shocked if this did anything. Good choice for a follow-up single though.

They just released a mix tape...at least Benji and the other guy did. Really really terrible. It's like rap meets pop-punk.

I don't know what the hell I was on earlier, but I swear to god this topic was Good Charlotte. Only reason I even said that. XD Wow, now I feel stupid.

Maybe because the title of the song has 'anthem' in it?

Not surprising, since it was one of the few new songs played live last week, but there are so many better songs on the new album, which is surprisingly great. Really solid top to bottom. This coming from a fairly casual NFG fan. It's late, so I kind of need to go to bed, but I'd like to revisit the "Radiosurgery" topic and hopefully discuss the album more.
My pick for a new single, since you asked, would've been "Summer Fling, Don't Mean a Thing."

When I heard "Radiosurgery" on Music Choice - Alternative, I thought it was godawful, so if the rest of the album is like that, I probably would have a very different impression upon listening to it.

Can't say I mind this song at all. I liked what they were doing with "It's Not Your Fault" though. I wish they'd continue with that.

I can't see NFG being the kind of band that you'd really enjoy. This song is really similar to their old material, which this new album is semi-much like.

I don't mind some New Found Glory. I actually own their s/t because I really liked "Dress To Kill" when I was 13 and thus got it as a birthday present. I thought other singles since then were pretty good. I just hated "Radiosurgery", plain and simple. That said, yes, pop-punk is not my thing most of the time, especially now that I'm a 24-year old prog-metal fan rather than a 13-year old whose favorite bands were Splender and Fastball.

I'm almost offended by the subtle implication that those bands are not enjoyable as an adult, but I know that's not your intention. But I thought I should let you know you're on thin ice, buddy. ;)

I just said that they're not my favorite bands anymore. If you look on my facebook, I still have them both among my "likes", and I have Splender positioned fairly high up in my favorite music. I'm just saying that my tastes were more accepting of a band like New Found Glory. I still listen to Splender, and I believe if 'Halfway Down The Sky' were released today, I'd still love it. Granted, it was so formative in my tastes that I might be into totally different music now had that not hit me late in my critical period. My guitar playing is still hugely influenced by Splender.

I think that I completely understand where you're coming from. The company where I work at has had the 90s on 9 station from Sirius/XM on in the office all day every day over the last three weeks. I've realized that many of the artists and songs that I liked when I got into music in the mid-90s as a teenager I just can't appreciate any more and if they came out now, I'd probably despise it. On the flip side, music that I may not have liked that much back then, I like more now. I still think most of the Alternative material that came out from bands like the Gin Blossoms, Matchbox 20, Soul Asylum, Better Than Ezra, etc is just as awesome as back then. I’ve never been a fan of rap/hip-hop and used to refer to rappers as “crappers,” but a lot of the hip-hop back then doesn’t seem bad to me at all now. It was more fun and easy to jam to than the reggaeton/hip-hop that you hear now, albeit some of the lyrics surprise me as how vulgar they were back then and got away with it on the radio. Most of the early 90s material just seems like a continuous version of the 80s and I really can’t get into. Synthesizers drive me nuts. Ever since I got into New Found Glory, Blink-182, Sum 41, etc in the late 90s, I’ve always been a HUGE fan of pop-punk, but I do find myself not appreciating the new material from older and newer bands as much I used to. While I think NFG’s new album is good and one of their better albums in their discography, I don’t consider it “epic” like their original material and most of the album sounds similar. I’m just using NFG as an example, but I could have said this for most bands that have been around a long time about their new albums. Nu-metal bands are becoming less and less appealing to me as I can’t seem to tell most of the lesser known ones apart. Most post-grunge I can’t care to really like anymore mostly because of lyrics being cock rocky. I think most new music in general doesn’t excite me as much anymore and I don’t blame how sound has changed. I blame getting older and more mature and how my tastes have slightly changed. We all go through it at some point.

Let's use Ini Kamoze's "Here Comes the Hotstepper," some of Alanis Morrisette's material, Crash Test Dummies "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm," Proclaimers's "500 Miles," UB-40, Bon Jovi's 90s stuff, etc. I could definitely think of more when at work on Monday.

I just realized that FMQB has this titled as "Anthem for the Damned." Seriously, can they just hire me already to run their site as a side job?
