Mediabase 2011 Year-End (Official Chart Now Up)

[Cerebro]

Here are my projections for what the Mediabase year-end chart may look like. These rankings will differ from Billboard's due to the fact that Mediabase counts all spins. The only rule that Mediabase sets forth is that a song must have spent at least a week as a "current" during the charting period in order to be eligible for inclusion in the year-end rankings. The Mediabase 2011 chart year began the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2010 and ended the Sunday before this Thanksgiving. This isn't a, completely, accurate chart as I do not have access to every spin. I am limited to the top 50 currents and the top 15-20ish recurrents that are available on All Access (hence, the "approximate" in the subject line). Nonetheless, this should be fairly close to the rankings we'll see when the year-end PDF is released in the next several weeks.

Talk about a close call for #1! 522 spins separate the top 2. "E.T." was, actually, #1 up until the final week when "Give Me Everything" overtook it. Still a good year to be Katy Perry, though. She lands 3 songs in the top 10.

Very true. Although, I don't recall "E.T." getting very many pre-single spins. Hopefully it did. GME at the top is still great, though.

I still don't know why they did it last year. It could be due to financial cutbacks or something else.

OK, the thing is, the browser that I was using (Firefox) it kept showing last year's charts. So I switched to a different PC and I've managed to download it.

I'm a bit disappointed but not too surprised to see only the top 50 and not the full top 100 for each of the charts.

Odds are good that "E.T." will, probably, be #1 on AT40's year-end chart since, given the trend of past years, their cut-off would've been a couple weeks earlier.

Though if "Give Me Everything" is on top of the AT40 list, Ryan gets the unique distinction of counting down a #1 song of the year in which he himself is mentioned by (sur)name.
