Truth was my highlight of All For You. Should have been a single.

Now you know "With Yew" is better than "Fast Girl". I'm on the edge with "Truth" being better than "With Yew".

Would have been a better choice than Son of a Gun. Everyone I know who weren't even Janet "fans" loved Truth.

I'll never understand the "Son of a Gun" hate. I think "Trust a Try" and "Come On Get Up" were better choices than "Truth".

They tested some radio edits at UAC (I have this disc). Truth was among them. I think singles should have gone: 1. All For You 2. STCML 3. Come On Get Up 4. Feels So Right

She could have used a hardcore urban hit at that time (AFY doesn't count - it was a cross-format smash). STCML peaked at #49 on Urban, I think.

#49 on what chart? Urban airplay? or the R&B 100?

STCML had sales, so it peaked at No. 11 on the R&B chart.
"Trust a Try" definitely was the most adventurous track on All For You- not sure how it would have worked as a single, but I would have liked to see a video.
I like "Son of a Gun"- album version. Not crazy for the P. Diddy/Missy E. additions.

^Yes- that was after the coffee-as-enema comments, yes? (Wonder if Janet sought out Carly/the sample for that reason. hehe AFY isn't one of Janet's beest albums (though it probably is better than the ones that came after it), but it does have some good tracks on it. "Better Days" is another goodie. I could do without all of the "babymaking" tracks that appeared from this album on. "Come On Get Up" was a fun track, fit in with Janet's other tracks of a similar nature, and would have worked alright as the fourth singe. Odd that labels sometimes stop at three singles, even when the album fares pretty respectably. WB did the same with the Music album, though there was a dispute over what the fourth single should be- so, the compromise was no fourth single. Was there a similar case here, or did the label just have no interest in promoting a fourth single in the USA?

No clue about Madge....
Come On Get Up was definitely slated as the fourth single internationally, but something went awry. I think it would have fared pretty decently, actually.
Ah well...

I can never understand why Son of a Gun was chosen as the third single? That to me is something that is just so not radio-friendly and just an awkward choice of single ESPECIALLY when there were so many other options from the album like Come on Get Up.

MikeC- WB reportedly wanted "Amazing" as Music's fourth single, but M wanted "Impressive Instant." So, there was no fourth single (outside of II being promoted to the clubs). I read up more on COGU, and how plans apparently did go awry for its release. Somehow, it did chart on the ARC Weekly Top 40, which is odd given it never went for airplay and didn't have a video.
SOAG wasn't as radio-friendly as AFY and STCML. I wasn't big on Janet's vocals during the verses, but I liked Carly's involvement and the chorus, in general.

Janet took a risk with SOAG as a single. I applaud her for that. I actually like the track.

Wasnt Son of a Gun the 2nd single and STCML the 3rd?
I think the singles should have been
1. All For You 2. Come on Get Up 3. Someone to call my lover 4. Feels So Right 5. Truth
Better Days is my favorite from the album though.
