Yep, that's what I thought of when I saw it.
Let's wait awhile? Janet Damita Jo Jackson, we've waited more than a while for new music. Give us somethin'.

I can't believe it's been over 7 years since Discipline, what in the hell? First of all, it feels NOTHING like that amount of time has passed, funny how time flies huh... But besides that, I can't believe we've gone this long without a new Janet album. Really crazy.

I mean, maybe it doesn't feel that long since we got MAKE ME and NOTHING after the discipline era ended. For me, it feels like ages. I just want a new janet album so bad...and a tour!!! Seeing her live is worth every single penny.

Today has been Janet day for me at work. I've listened to Janet Jackson, Dream Street, Control, and Rhythm Nation 1814. I've just reached "Throb" on janet.

Just came here to say the ending of the album version of love will never do is one of my favorite parts of the RN1814 album.
Specifically the adlibs she's doing from 4:58 on:
Lassst, wrong baby love you just without you
ooh oohh baby, love you, just without you
oooh oooh ooooh
*synthed high note*

Goddess, I made it through her entire discography, including B-Sides et. al. It made me so happy and sad at the same time (except for those awful vocals on the JD 20YO tracks that I still can't get over to this day).
I miss her so much!!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

20 YO is her most generic album, definitely. Thank God for tracks like "Enjoy" and "Take Care", now those were Janet tracks.

I loved 20 YO. More than discipline or damita jo for sure. I feel like all the tracks are classic Janet.

Some people wish Discipline had half of those authentic tracks to call its own. Maybe then they could cut the bougie s**t and stop trashing 20 Y.O. I loved 20 YO. More than discipline or damita jo for sure. I feel like all the tracks are classic Janet. YASS PREACH

YAS I love those tracks. The album was just bogged down by the ratchet productions on the first half of the album that I can't get over. JD is a MESS. Well, some of them were nice. I feel like Show Me and This Body were disposable, and With U was really generic. People seem to love Do It 2 Me, while So Excited and Get It Out me are also appreciated. People outside the fanbase LOVE Call On Me, and it was one of her biggest hits ever in Brazil. I agree that the vocals seem off – specially on Daybreak, which would otherwise be a great song. But to say that 20 Y.O. is her worst or most generic...... Seems like a reach. I guess the JanFam jumped ship once it underperformed and the rule now is trashing JD and the album.

I guess I'm just hearing a different album. If you guys are referring to the tracks So Excited - This Body, those all sound like classic Janet to me. S.EX may have been a little more experimental, but its a Janet dance song with an 80's sample. I feel the same way about SHOW ME.
The minute I heard Get It Out Me (btw the beat on GIOM is straight fire) transition into Do It 2 Me...that to me felt like 'omg...THIS is the Janet I feel in love with', perhaps it had to do with the sample from IGL that they used, my do it 2 me feels like classic Janet to me as well (love the Brenda Russell sample too).
I can agree that THIS BODY was experimental as well, but its sexy as hell and it works. I guess I don't really have any qualms with the JD productions on this disc.
I cant deal with any WITH U hate...that ballad is beautiful. I guess the only track I could do without is DAYBREAK..they should have subbed that with ROLLWITCHU.
Now y'all gonna make me listen to 20 yo on my way to work today.

You know, the problem for me is not that the songs were "bad" it's just that they were so similar to everything going on in 2006. It was just a generic R&B album to me. "This Body" was HOT af too. That's one of my favorites from the album. I've said it once before in this thread, Janet has never made a bad album. 20 YO is not a bad album at all, it ranks up there with the best R&B albums of '06 but the problem is that this is Janet freakin Jackson and the album was filled with songs that most people could have made during that time. Most especially S.EX, Show Me, Do It 2 Me, Get It Out Me, and This Body. But I will say, Janet made This Body her own. I think it is one of my favorites because her vocals on there are soo damn sexy and involved, especially right after the rap: "I know you can't stop lookin' so don't try to deny me... baby I can see in your eyes, you'll do anything if I let you inside me... what would you do if I came to life... let me tell you." HOT! And the production on that song wasn't drowning out her vocals too much, unlike with the other songs.

20YO was a solid and cohesive album. Probably her strongest effort since All For You. Discipline had a few good songs but most of them were horrible. I think if you take the best tracks from her last 3 albums you would have one great album.
My dream combination for those 3 albums would've been:
1. Feedback 2. Show Me 3. All Nite 4. Call On Me 5. Enjoy 6. Rock With U 7. Make Me 8. R&B Junkie 9. I want You 10. Luv 11. Do it 2 Me 12. Like You Don't Love Me 13. Roll Witchu 14. Take Care
Bonus: Love Me (Just Blaze Mix)

The SONGS aren't what bothers me on 20 Y.O. They're all mostly or fully Janet to me.
It's her VOCALS on "So Excited" through "Do It To Me" + "With U" & "Call On Me" (& "Weekend") that deflate my excitement. She sounds like she recorded those tracks with a cold and just didn't really care.
Her vocals on This Body, Daybreak, Enjoy, Take Care, Love 2 Love, Days Go By, and Roll Witchu are up to her normal standards, IMO.

Her vocals could be better on S.EX, I agree, but Show Me, Do it 2 Me and Get It Out Me, vocally I think are fine enough.

Speed "No Other Way" up and tighten up those discordant sounds, and I could hear Janet singing it.
I'll be sad if Janet doesn't write again, though I didn't realize it on Discipline until I read the album credits after several listens.

I find Discipline practically unlistenable and even the fan fav tracks bore me but 20 Y. O. is a pretty solid album. Damita Jo is one of my favorite Janet albums. It's so cohesive and just straight up hot R&B. I couldn't include it in making an album with 20 YO and Discipline because I think DJ works on its own 100%, I wouldn't take anything away from it. the best tracks on 20 YO and Discipline mixed together would make a hot ass album tho.

20 Y.O. and Discipline could work as a combined album, but Damita Jo has a different vibe all together and is fine on it's own. The only changes I'd make to Damita Jo are replacing some album tracks with bonus/unreleased material.

10 DAYS A NEW JANET ERA BEGINS THIS WAS ANNOUNCED BY ANDY COHEN ON WWHL TONIGHT....THERE'S JUST NO REASON THAT HE WOULD ANNOUNCE THAT ON A LIVE SHOW WHERE SHE ISN'T EVEN A GUEST. OBVIOUSLY HE HAS INSIDE DETAILS.
