So does that mean kix's album will still be out September 11th without a top ten hit? Yep. A lot of new artists will have to wait 'til they get a top 20 single before the label puts it out, but Kix isn't really new. I don't see him having much success on radio anyway but still, plenty of B&D fans will get the album and Kix's name is very recognizable, with him hosting the ACC countdown and all. JT Hodges is a newcomer who won't even have a top 30 hit when his album drops. The first 2 singles didn't do that well--one cracked top 40 barely, and the other couldn't even do that. I thought they were among the best singles of the past year or so but radio didn't jump on 'em. His album sounds really great though. We've seen Show Dog-Universal (JT's label) struggle to get their newer artists hits on the radio but they have still put out albums despite the likelihood of lower sales. They put out albums for Carter's Chord and Joe Nichols. Most of the other big labels, though, will typically wait for a bigger hit.

I'm glad SDU doesn't wait til the artist gets a Top 20 hit or better to put out an album, because they can't seem to do much for any artist at radio besides Toby Keith and the occasional surprise hit for someone else (that ultimately has no lasting impact on their standing at radio).

I'm glad that Good Guys will include the singles from his unreleased I'm Alright album (I know they put out an EP, but I never got it because those don't appeal to me that much), especially IWMLB and A Father's Love (could do w/out Gotta Be Somebody though). Definitely lookin' forward to his new record!

www.blakeshelton.com/newsAug 6 BLAKE SHELTON TO RELEASE CHEERS IT’S CHRISTMAS OCTOBER 2, 2012 Reigning ACM and CMA Male Vocalist of the year, Blake Shelton is getting ready to release his first Christmas album, Cheers It’s Christmas on October 2, 2012 on Warner Bros. Records. The album will feature several duet performances including fellow The Voice advisor Michael Bublé, long-time friend, Reba and a very special duet with his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. The album includes classic Christmas songs that have touched Blake over the years. Many of the tracks were also recorded at the famous Capitol Studios with full orchestral accompaniment. In 2008, Blake recorded a version of Bublé’s song “Home” that garnered both artists multi-week No. 1’s and marked Blake’s fourth career multi-week No. 1 single. For Cheers It’s Christmas, Bublé and Blake have reworked the single to embody the Christmas spirit and bring you back to the holiday. Another exciting duet performance on Cheers It’s Christmas is great friend Reba. This is the first time the pair has ever performed on a record together. Blake literally brings the album home with a track he sang and co-wrote with one of the most special women in his life, his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. Nothing exemplifies Christmas like family, and with the single “Time For Me To Come Home” Blake and his mother capture the longing for a son on the road to finally come back home for Christmas time.

That duet with his mom sounds like one of those tear jerking Christmas songs that could actually become a hit if its being released as a single. One of my favorite Blake songs is "The Baby." That one kills me everytime. If this song is like that, but in a Christmas fashion, then wow! I can't wait to hear it!

I think I might get this album. I would've gotten his debut as well, but there were too many skits on there for my taste (one or two is fine, but eight of them is pretty excessive, if you ask me). Some of the song titles sound interesting, too, especially "I'll Have to Kill the Pain", "Only God Can Love You More", "Guessing Games", "Real Women Drink Beer", and "Fraction of a Man". I hope he doesn't disappoint.
EDIT: The track listing is also available in that link, btw.

Here is the track listing and songwriting credits from that article:
1. Free The Music (Jerrod Niemann) 2. Whiskey Kind of Way (Jerrod Niemann/Randy Boudreaux) 3. Get On Up (Jerrod Niemann/J.R. McCoy/Jesse Clingan) 4. I'll Have To Kill The Pain (Jerrod Niemann/J.R. McCoy/Arlos Smith) 5. Only God Can Love You More (Jerrod Niemann/Jon Stone/Lee Brice) 6. Shinin' On Me (Jerrod Niemann/Rob Hatch/Lee Brice/Lance Miller) 7.Honky Tonk Fever (Jerrod Niemann) 8. Guessing Games (Jerrod Niemann/Rob Hatch/Lance Miller) 9. It Won't Matter Anymore (Jerrod Niemann/J.R. McCoy) 10. I'm All About You feat. Colbie Calliat (Jerrod Niemann/Richie Brown) 11. Real Women Drink Beer (Jerrod Niemann/Houston Phillips) 12. Fraction of a Man (Jerrod Niemann)
I was excited about the song "Only God Can Love You More" based on the title alone. Then I saw Lee Brice co-wrote it and got more excited. I'll have to listen to the live video above in a minute!
I'm also excited about the Colbie Caillat duet! Can't wait for his album! Hopefully it's better than the last one. I liked about half of his last album and hated the other half.

I think that album was one of the best of 2010, and you can always skip over the skits if they bother you that much...

Well to be fair, those skits were atrocious. I thought the album was decent, but the first thing I did was delete all the non musical stuff from my ipod. Hopefully he skips em' this time.

Awesome! Red is an interesting title (and rn without any knowledge of the album, not in a good way). Really excited about it regardless, and 16 tracks is nice to hear. I love that her albums are always long!

It will include a duet with Ed Sheeran. Going pop?
Also, sounds like another World Tour in store.

First single, "We are never, ever, ever, getting back together." Definitely pop. Don't even think she can realistically release it to country radio. It's a catchy one though.

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is getting released August 20 to country radio with a 'country mix'. Here's the cover.
