Excited. I hope it's as gaytastic as "Filthy/Gorgeous" and "Any Which Way".

I think that's one of the worst songs they've ever recorded. Sounds like a parody.

I think that's one of the worst songs they've ever recorded. Sounds like a parody. I agree. It's a big mess. The rap section sounds like the stuff Cazwell or Jonny McGovern do, but it's much, much worse. I do like the chorus though. This song has that "he raps, she sings" type of feel to it that many of those Eurodance songs had during the 90s.

I get what they were going for with "Shady Love", but I don't think it quite worked. A strong chorus could have pulled the rest together, but it doesn't even have that. It reminds me of their really early work. It's completely different, novel and Azealia Banks has a lot of hype so I think it could be a hit, but it's either that or it'll sink without a trace - I'm not seeing an in between for this song.
Scissor Sisters was one of my favourite albums of the last decade. It's an incredible pop record from start to finish. Ta-Dah was a step down, but was at least solid all the way through. Night Work, while having higher highs than Ta-Dah, was pretty uneven. I think they're having a crisis. Their debut album managed to walk the line effortlessly between all the different demographics they could appeal to and Ta-Dah tried to do the same but was more laboured and it showed. On Night Work they must have made a decision to go back to their roots and appeal to the gay crowd and throw out "Fire With Fire" for their older straight fans. They've obviously given up on the adults completely and are trying to appeal to new young fans and the loyal gays with "Shady Love". I hope it works because the downward trend for their album sales is staggering.
Here's the video. I don't really understand what they were going for.

I do think it's worth pointing out that this seems to be getting a good reaction from the music press. NME and Popjustice love it. Although the latter is hardly surprising.

"Shady Love" is already starting to grow on me. I'm still disappointed with it, but I think I'll probably end up enjoying it at least a little just because it's Scissor Sisters.

Their third album is just superb. LOVE IT I think more than their first though their first had more depth was some BRILLIANT ballads.

The album is called Magic Hour and is due 28 May. It will be preceeded by single "Only The Horses" a week earlier.

Only the Horses was co-produced by Calvin Harris. Add Pharrell and Diplo to the list of producers on the album too.

"Only The Horses" is out.
I like this more than "Shady Love," but I can't help but feel that this sounds a bit lifeless for a Scissor Sisters/Calvin Harris collaboration.

I do appreciate that it doesn't sound like most of the collaborations Calvin Harris has done lately. The last thing we need is a "Feel So Close"/"We Found Love" clone. This sort of feels like a better version of "Fire With Fire".

^^^You are right, it does sort of sound like a better more dancier version of Fire With Fire.

I prefer "Fire With Fire" over this. On first listen, I'm kinda bored with it.

I like it a lot more than "Shady Love" too. I can definitely hear the similarities to "Fire With Fire", but I wasn't a fan of that and this is superior. It's a shame a Scissor Sisters/Calvin Harris collaboration couldn't have come up with better, but I reckon it'll grow on me.
