First single from electronic emo-pop band Breathe Carolina from their album Hell Is What You Make It. Despite it's sound and success on pop, it's currently approaching Top 50 on alternative with very decent audience impression:
55 55 BREATHE CAROLINA Blackout 80 81 -1 0.401
Did these guys ever skim the Top 50 before?

Did these guys ever skim the Top 50 before? I don't believe so. This was actually the first time I've heard anything from them after hearing of them quite a bit for a long time. They sound very similar to 3OH!3 and Metro Station.

I feel they have more rock sensibilities than both those acts though, so it could have a chance at Top 40.

Despite it's sound and success on pop, it's currently approaching Top 50 on alternative with very decent audience impression: Beware, it probably got all its spins from only 2-3 stations, hence why it's Audience Impressions are so high (the pop-leaning stations that added it have it in power-rotation.)

It slipped out of the top 50 this week and has 87 spins:
KTCL-FM Denver 54 52 2 (#1 song on the station) WROX-FM Norfolk 23 25 -2 KUCD-FM Honolulu 10 12 -2
Denver, of course, is Breathe Carolina's hometown. KTCL's playlist looks Alternative enough otherwise.

Denver has always been willing to play Colorado acts. And unlike most timid Alt. stations, they recognized that 3OH3 is a legit alternative act. It is a shame that alt. lost them, since pop has now rejected 3OH3 for being too alternative and 3OH3 is left to flounder in the wilderness despite having catchier music than what lurks at either Alt. OR top 40.
Tell me this would not work at alternative ...

That's way to house-electronic for alternative in my opinion. "Blackout" sounds more alternative-friendly than that.

Blackout and Bang Bang sound very similar to me, except that Bang Bang has catchier vocals and a better synth line. (I do not mean this as a criticism to Breathe Carolina ... I love them, they are great live in concert, and I always represent my Colorado boys.)

I'd love to see some true electro/ tech/ house alternative songs breaking through. But this song is a blatant rip off of Chromeo, which is kind of annoying.
But it would be really cool if Alternative braced acts like Bag Raiders, Strange Talk, Kavinsky, Chromeo etc if they can make room for this (which I basically think of as teen pop).
