I was listening to Womack & Womack's "Baby I'm Scared Of You" and one of the lines is "like little red riding hood, you‘re the fox". I'm pretty sure the animal in Little Red Riding Hood is a wolf. I know this isn't the only case of lyrics being factually inaccurate. Anyone know any other cases?

There's the spelling mistake in Fergie's "Fergalicious" that is so cringe-inducing. "T, to the A, to the S-T-E-Y, girl you tasty"

Alanis and Ironic. Most of the situations are bad luck / bad timing, but not irony.

Katie Melua's 'Nine Million Bicycles' and some of the numbers she uses that are inaccurate such as the distance from different things in space.

"Man Down" by Rihanna: He could've been somebody's sonWhat's wrong with that line? I think she means that: - She could have missed and hit somebodies son, instead. - The man may still have had living parents who will miss him greatly now that he's gone.

Speed Of Sound by Coldplay - "Let's go flying at the speed of sound to show you where it all began..."
Traveling back in time involves the speed of LIGHT, not the speed of SOUND

Just to be pedantic, it's actually 'birds go flying at the speed of sound...'.

Well every boy is technically someone's son, so saying he "could" have been someone's son is inaccurate.

I cringe at Rihanna's line. Did Shontelle think when she wrote that song?

Katy Perry - Firework. "After a hurricane comes a rainbow." I'll be a meteorology student in college starting in the fall, so I've always hated that line.

It's not factually inaccurate, but Simple Plan's "Jet Lag" has always annoyed me; You say good morning when it's midnight, going out of my head alone in this bed I wake up to your sunset, it's driving me mad, I miss you so badI challenge you to find me a set of logical times (what time they both wake up and what time her sunset is) that don't involve either of them changing time zones in between the two events.

I think that's the point of the song though - they're both flying from time zone to time zone in every which direction, maybe cause they're both on tour...

beyonce's algeba
and everyone talk that much about Sade's Smooth Operator...
"Coast to coast, L.A. from Chicago"
But I don't think she's actually saying Chicago is in the coast.

This one's questionable, but Regina Spektor - "Samson" - "And the Bible didn't mention us.." The Bible did, of course, mention Samson and Delilah, but we can't be sure that the song's even about them.
Taylor Swift- "Love Story" - "You were Romeo, I was a Scarlet Letter" One of the worst literary reference attempts in songwriting history.

I always wondered if that Taylor Swift lyric was a factual inaccuracy or if I just didn't pay very much attention to The Scarlet Letter in high school.

I always wondered if that Taylor Swift lyric was a factual inaccuracy or if I just didn't pay very much attention to The Scarlet Letter in high school. The only way that it could possibly make sense is if the narrator of "Love Story" is describing herself as a social pariah, which I highly doubt. Combining the references was just a mess, and the lyric sticks out like a sore thumb.

Well She never read Romeo and Juliet for Love Story. I mean they both kill themselves at the end of the story. Good love story huhhh.

Not a song lyric, but the bridge in the video for Fergie's "London Bridge" is Tower Bridge, not London Bridge.

Dislike the juxtaposition all you want, but who's to say in the context of the song she isn't a social pariah? Her Dad has already told her to stay away from the guy. It's clear some consider him the wrong sort.

Thematically speaking, most country radio songs which draw a binary between the rural life and city life, and suggest the latter is the source of all criminal activity and broken homes while the former is a paradise of sorts that'll keep you out of jail. * Also, in U2's "Pride (In the Name of Love)", Bono sings in the third verse: "Early morning, April 4 / Shot rings out in the Memphis sky..."Martin Luther King Jr. was actually shot in the evening that day, at 6:01 PM. Sorry if it felt unsettling sharing on the weekend of his memorial. But every time I hear that lyric, it honestly baffles me how Bono could have been spot on with the date and place, yet be way off with regards to the time. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS
