please can anyone tell me how does the Billboard Hot Dance club play work ?? That particular chart is compiled using the playlists submitted by a select panel of working DJs (it's around 120-150) across the U.S. Some view the chart as a joke because the chart is not 100% representative of what's actually popular in clubs. Often what is being actively promoted with the help of a promotion service will chart high on the charts. Usually artists on bigger labels and/or with a lot of financial resources tend to do better. There are a few exceptions. And a lot of manipulation happens in the form of 'paper charting'. That happens when a DJ on the panel charts a song that he/she isn't actually playing. Even though that is a huge no-no, there really is no way to actually police that because there is no monitoring like there is on radio with BDS or Mediabase. Notice how a song will rise really quickly, get to number one, then the week after it drops to like 12 or something. There is quicker turnover on this chart, but it does seem very strange that songs have such runs. A reasonable explanation is that the reporting DJs have stopped charting the song after it peaked. There have been many, many instances of Dance songs that were huge even in the mainstream that never ever charted on that chart despite massive popularity. Examples: D.H.T.'s "Listen To Your Heart", all the Cascada singles, September's "Cry For You", etc. did not chart. They 'bubbled under', but that's about it. One could wonder if DJs played those songs but opted not to chart them. In years past, the chart was usually dominated by purely Dance/Electronic artists with some non-Dance artists (usually Pop, R&B, Rock, etc.) charting with remixes of their songs. And in recent years, that has begun to shift to the latter with the former getting less representation. The significant majority of Dance music record labels in the U.S. are independents (e.g. Tommy Boy, Ultra, Robbins, Star 69, Kult, Nervous, Strictly Rhythm, Sea To Sun, Dauman, Music Plant) and many don't have a lot of money so some don't have the resources or means to hire promoters. And many artists are doing it on their own labels so that can be even harder.

It may be a joke, but Madonna is going to probably come close to getting her 45th #1 with this albums era ;)

Smashing its way back up iTunes- currently No. 85.
Remixes EP currently No. 212 on the albums chart (I first saw it at 129, so it probably reached higher than that). None of the individual mixes in the top 1000 (probably didn't crack it, either).

LOL that chart is indeed a joke I do not see how that is any more of a joke than any other chart. Seems as if you just want to be negative with everything you say in a Madonna thread.

I think when it comes to music in a club their is quicker turnover because when people go out they are wanting something fresh each time. They are not like radio listeners were they are satisfied with hearing the same 10 songs over and over and over for 5 months straight.

They are not like radio listeners were they are satisfied with hearing the same 10 songs over and over and over for 5 months straight. A typical chart run of a successful song used to be about 10-13 weeks. Even a so-so one would be around 8-10. 9-10 weeks is typical now. There are always exceptions to that in both directions. And a multiweek number one is a rarity nowadays.

With this album, will she pass George Strait's count of most No. 1s on a Billboard chart? Sure, it's "just" the dance chart, but it's a BB chart, nonetheless, that's been around for some 36 years or so.

Madonna will achieve a record-extending 41st No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs chart next week as “Give Me All Your Luvin’” will jump 2-1 on the tally. “Give Me All Your Luvin’” will be No. 1 on the upcoming chart dated March 31 (posted to Billboard.com on March 22). The achievement also gives Madonna No. 1 Billboard singles in four consecutive decades: the ’80s, ’90s, ’00s and ’10s. Madonna extends her lead for most No. 1s in the chart’s history, pulling further ahead of runner-up Janet Jackson, who has 19. “Give Me All Your Luvin’” (featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.) is the first single from Madonna’s “MDNA” album, due out March 26. It reaches the top of the chart courtesy of remixes by the likes of LMFAO , Nicky Romero and Laidback Luke. Meanwhile, “MDNA’s” second single, “Girl Gone Wild,” is already off to a fast start on the Dance/Club Play tally — it will rise 46-20 next week. Madonna’s first Billboard chart hit came 30 years ago this year, when her debut single for Sire/Warner Bros., “Everybody,” bowed on the Dance/Club Play Songs chart on Nov. 6, 1982. It eventually would go on to peak at No. 3. Here, in chronological order, are Madonna’s 41 No. 1s on Dance/Club Play Songs. For titles that spent multiple weeks at No. 1, total frames in the lead are noted in parentheses. 1983, “Holiday/Lucky Star” (five weeks) 1984, “Like a Virgin” (three weeks) 1985, “Material Girl” 1985, “Angel/Into the Groove” 1987, “Open Your Heart”
1987, “Causing a Commotion (Remix)” 1988, “You Can Dance (LP Cuts)” 1989, “Like a Prayer” (two weeks) 1989, “Express Yourself” (three weeks) 1990, “Keep It Together”
1990, “Vogue” (two weeks) 1991, “Justify My Love” (two weeks) 1992, “Erotica” 1993, “Deeper and Deeper” 1993, “Fever”
1994, “Secret” (two weeks) 1995, “Bedtime Story” 1997, “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” 1998, “Frozen” (two weeks) 1998, “Ray of Light” (four weeks)
1999, “Nothing Really Matters” (two weeks) 1999, “Beautiful Stranger” (two weeks) 2000, “American Pie” 2000, “Music” (five weeks) 2001, “Don’t Tell Me”
2001, “What It Feels Like for a Girl” 2001, “Impressive Instant” (two weeks) 2002, “Die Another Day” (two weeks) 2003, “American Life” 2003, “Hollywood”
2003, “Me Against the Music,” Britney Spears featuring Madonna (two weeks) 2004, “Nothing Fails” 2004, “Love Profusion” 2005, “Hung Up” (four weeks) 2006, “Sorry” (two weeks)
2006, “Get Together” 2006, “Jump” (two weeks) 2008, “4 Minutes,” Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland (two weeks) 2008, “Give It 2 Me” 2009, “Celebration”
2012, “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” Madonna featuring Nicki Minaj & M.I.A. Comparing her chart champs by decade, Madonna scored nine Dance/Club Songs No. 1s in the ’80s, 13 in the ’90s and 18 in the ’00s. At five weeks each, “Holiday/Lucky Star” and “Music” represent Madonna’s longest reigns. “Ray of Light” and “Hung Up” are next with four weeks each in charge. Billboard :) :) :)

^It's also on American Top 40 (looking to drop off both next week). The countdowns usually run a tad behind the regular charts, and GMAYL did spend five weeks on the Pop/Mainstream Top 40 chart.

;) GMAYL has certainly grown with the public. i originally thought it would simply disappear just like that. I had my sentiments for this track and i wished it performed better. mymonumentalicons.blogspot.com/2012/02/new-single-madonna-give-me-all-your.htmlChart Update for Give Me All Your Luvin'
UK Singles Chart # 104 (re-enter)
US Digital #133
US Dance Club Play #1
Canada Top 100 #39
Canada Digital #40I can (now) understand why they had to sacrifice this single to save MDNA. It was a bad move for GMAYL's sake but a good one to save MDNA charting low considering MDNA's shaky hold on the charts. Lionel Ritchie has overtaken Madonna in US iTunes already as she is at no.3... hope she gets more sales down the weekend.

I wouldn't worry about iTunes album sales, but if Amazon pulled another $0.99 with an older album or if Google does another $0.25 album, you could worry about those.

#3 European airplay right now.
#19 on the WW chart, 8 weeks on.
i think this is going to be one her classics, regardless of chart placement. It's got a fantastic hook.
