For a song that during a good while seemed destined to fail, Rather be is really rushing up the chart right now
The more it approaches to top 10 on itunes the more strange that are Chandelier's updates. I really don't understand it

Such a travesty that "She Looks So Perfect" will flop on radio. If this gets to #41, f*ck you, Florida-Georgia Line. Getting purged doesn't equal being a flop - honestly, I don't think it means jack s**t in any case. But 5SS won't get purged unless they fall to #43 this week anyway, since Legend and DJ Snake are both going recurrent. I wouldn't call it a flop; it did make the top 20, which isn't bad, especially for a debut hit. But it should have been MUCH bigger. Not to throw another log on this fire, but Iggy has only one hit to her credit (two if you count the feature on "Problem", but that's really Ariana's hit, not hers.) One Direction have several, from three big-selling albums. And 1D are headlining sports stadiums; Iggy is not, at least not yet.

Well, every big artist start with only one hit.
And frankly, there are way better songs that She looks so perfect that fail to success. We have a recent example with Human, way better song, with good sales, and radio refuse to make it happen.
She looks so perfect is a typical teen pop (with a little rock) song, aimed to very young audiences. Of course it seemed destined to do better because radio supported it big time at first, but once itunes position was not that great, everything ended.
Right now teen pop is not that big on radio, Bieber was huge but that never translated on radio hits, in fact his more successful songs on radio were during his last album. And One Direction's singles generally end in the low part of top 20

What about this? " Especially since it'll take over the #1 spot from one of the worst #1s in recent memory." and 22 hours ago M1tchD said: "Seeing "Fancy" falling out of the #1 spot, especially for a great song like "Problem," is such a relief. I don't know how that travesty ever made it to #1 in the first place." oh oh ok cool I guess you guys just write it off since it's not me saying it. Yeah. That seems totally fair. Because he's not directing it at one poster is particular. Your posts were made to specifically antagonize him for him liking One Direction. His were made to complain about a song, but they weren't directed at someone because they like the song. It's a big difference.

He was stating an opinion about a song on the chart. A strongly-worded opinion, but one that was relevant to the thread. When you type things like "Not to mention that you like One Direction," you're just looking for an argument. Statements like that add nothing to the discussion and are totally irrelevant to the topic at hand. There's a difference between saying you don't like a song and trashing an act that wasn't even being discussed. Also, "Fancy" being a bigger pop hit than any of One Direction's singles doesn't mean Iggy is more successful than One Direction. I'm not even a One Direction fan, but that's just delusional. Edit: Or what Au$tin said. I typed this a while ago but forgot to hit post.

I don't see how insulting an artist or a song are any different lol. Either way it's implying "you're stupid if you like this song/artist" which is pretty much what mitch1d was implying about people that like Fancy but ok I won't argue.

Wow...what have I started? I simply stated my admittedly rather harsh opinion about a song I disliked; in no way was that an attack on people's musical tastes. Like whatever you want, there's nothing I can do about it. Saying that I don't get how people can like the song is different than saying everybody who likes it is a moron, or something like that. Last I checked, we weren't only allowed to post about songs we like.

Funny how Birthday peaked at #7 in the daily updates but couldn't get past #9 in the weekly Sunday published updates. And is She Looks So Perfect being purged? Or is it considered as being #39 this week due to the recurrents? Because if that's being purged then that means Addicted to You will finally reach the top 40!

Purging =/= flopping. Stop it. Also, it won't be purged. It'll be sucked back into the top 40 when recurrents are removed. 1) Indeed. This isn't something I can insist on, but you've been told time and again how flawed the logic is, Lahey. 2) Isn't this also not necessarily true? IIRC there's been plenty of weeks where songs have been purged anyway even if they'd otherwise be sucked back into the Top 40. Like either just being out of the Top 40 anytime on Sunday is enough for Mediabase to purge the song is the new thing, or Mediabase is just inconsistent on this, I'm not sure which. Oh, and @ how fast "Empire" crumbled. OH! And to make matters worse, I can now confirm that there's definitely been panel changes with today's update (of all days!) - songs are off by larger spin numbers; a few of the top ones are off by over 100. Bear with me while I track down details. Au$tin Lozzy Az PaynterEDIT: OK, I'll probably need help. Here's what I do know: The numbers today are down compared to the actual spin counts last week, so based on the differences ranging from something like 100, 130 near the top to 90, 80, 70, and so forth on down, my guess is we have a net loss of one station. It's which station(s) that are involved, that I don't know. And all of the news sites that I know of haven't updated since Friday. >:(

I feel like we're going to be seeing a lot more Top 10 hits being purged. There's no way "Sing" or "Birthday" are going to make it to recurrency.

"Birthday" absolutely deserves to be purged. "Sing," while it had not so good callout scores, at least had sales to deserve making top 10. That one I would be fine with going recurrent rather than being purged, but with so long to go before recurrency I just don't see it happening. Also, in regards to kworb:

I scanned through the Pop station listing on All Access; sadly, I wasn't able to find a missing station stand-out. For those who care, however, I have updated the market listings: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/137808/date-mediabase-published-panelOh, and WNOW's pending change to, essentially, become the New York AMP FM is now complete; they've changed calls to WBMP, with Indianapolis's WNOU changing to take on the WNOW calls. Really hoping that's not the chart change we're looking for. (Then again...why would it be? Apparently the call changes happened back on the 23rd.)
