I was surprised to hear Carrie tell Jimmy Fallon that she has a thing for remembering songs and movie quotes and that the script for TSOM will always be in her head. Didn't she write song lyrics on her hand during AI to remember them? I'm pretty sure that NEVER happened, but I cannot say for sure... And it's quite the contrary. If you watch any awards show, when they pan to Carrie, she's always singing along. This has actually been addressed before; how Carrie knows practically all the lyrics to every song imaginable. She did a special with Hoda during the "Blown Away" era and they did some sort of karaoke segment, they addressed Carrie's memorization talents here: "friends call her 'jukebox Carrie' because she knows the lyrics to everything" at about 3:20, and then they sing for a bit...

I took her saying that as a "who knows maybe I'll reprise the role someday…"

Well, she definitely forgot the lyrics to "Young Hearts Run Free" on AI, and I remember her messing up the lyric on "Love Is A Battlefield." Anyway I swear I remember Carrie saying that about writing lyrics on her hand. Maybe not.

Well, she definitely forgot the lyrics to "Young Hearts Run Free" on AI, and I remember her messing up the lyric on "Love Is A Battlefield." Anyway I swear I remember Carrie saying that about writing lyrics on her hand. Maybe not. The first example I'd attribute more to nerves than actually flubbing the lyrics. Yes, she missed part of the lyric, but she was clearly nervous beyond belief, which can really affect one's memory of lyrics. And with "Love Is A Battlefield", I don't recall Carrie messing up lyrics at all; ironically - she addressed how she used to always mess up the lyrics as a kid and hoped not to for that performance. Nevertheless, if those are the only two instances one can find regarding Carrie messing up/forgetting lyrics, that's not a bad track record at all, I'd say. Also, both instances were very early on before she even had a career... I feel like they are both irrelevant at this point being almost a decade into her career and all... Lastly, I don't ever recall hearing anything about Carrie writing lyrics on her hand, so I really don't think that's true at all... but I can't prove it either way.

Carrie messes up on "LIAB" during the second chorus; she sings the wrong second line. Randy points it out, and Carrie mentions she covered it. So, yeah. I hadn't seen that full "LIAB" clip since the show aired; Carrie clearly had a cold when doing that spoken part! No wonder she was fairly shrill when belting during that performance.
Anyway, on how many songs in TSOM does Carrie have lead vocals? If she sings on half of the songs, I think it counts as her album for chart purposes, no?

And I'm not sure how many songs she's lead on, but I'm guessing around 7, so I don't think that would count as a full album for Carrie... Although I'm sure Carrie's camp will use the sales of this sound track toward her credentials...

I think for the Grammys, for instance, an artist (or producer) needs to be on 50% of an album. Even if a song is a duet, for instance, I think it would count as a Carrie song for that purpose.

Carrie is quickly making a name for herself in the acting community. I have my fingers crossed that she will blow everyone away with her acting abilities on December 5th. She's already proven that she's an absolute joy to work with - she comes prepared, on time (early, even!), and ready to learn new things. She never brings a bad attitude to her work, and even with all her massive success she continues to remain incredibly humble. Anyone would be lucky to work with her.

^^ I agree: her work ethic and talent will be even more apparent to a Broadway audience that may not yet know much about Carrie. Not only can this expand her fanbase (for which country music should be grateful and of course consider her again for EOTY next year, etc, etc.), but also and more importantly, the door will likely be open to Carrie for a future stint or even career in Broadway should she choose to embark on such an endeavour. SOOOO excited this week for the big event ! ETA:

I hope she's not bruised or sore, but better that it happened during rehearsal 2 days before than live. Yikes!

Been listening to some of the clips. The lonely goatherd has such playful energy and a wonderful natural yodel and of course pristine vocals. On, My Favorite Things, there's emoting and energy in the right places and the voices of Audra and Carrie are fabulous. Do-Re-Me is a gem, I personally love the whole song but especially the clear tone of the high notes at the end. And last but not least is The Sound of Music. Here I can hear and feel the emotions behind the words. Bravo Carrie!!

I picked up the soundtrack at Target today. it was pretty expensive for a CD. Anyway, I didn't realize how few songs Carrie sings lead on in the show.

I haven't seen that since it aired. I always felt like Randy didn't love Carrie (I don't think paula did either) Simon was CARRIE ALL THE WAY. but here he said something negative to her and Randy says "finally he speaks the truth". So I remember watching Idol that year thinking Simon was all about Carrie but Paula (and DEF) Randy were not. just my opinion. of course they will say they love her now bc she is a superstar

Paula was rarely a fan of the female contestants.
Randy wasn't as big on Carrie as Simon, especially not at first, but I think he came around by the end. He may have just been trying to bring levity to Simon who had already ordained Carrie as the winner. Randy definitely gave major props to Carrie at various points (after "Alone" and even after "Macarthur Park").

Blown Away looks to re-enter the top 50 on the albums chart. I am guessing the hype for TSOM is helping it: -- 34 CARRIE UNDERWOOD 19/RCA NASHVILLE 22,015

I think BA was also discounted this week to $7.99, that probably didn't hurt... But that's a great number; just about 1.6 million copies sold. It's only a matter of time until the album is officially double platinum!
