But that's a great number; just about 1.6 million copies sold. It's only a matter of time until the album is officially double platinum! While true, that "matter of time" is probably going to be lengthy. I'm not sure it will even get there by the end of 2014. It's based on shipment numbers, not raw sales. 1.6 million copies sold translates to more shipped...

Downloads makes up a lot of the difference in physical sales and shipments now. Plus, fewer copies are on shelves now anyway since sales are so poor.

Producer Neil Meron:
Co-stars:
And special mention to the tweet of Laura Benanti. When Carrie's casting as Maria von Trapp was announced last year and before Laura was cast as well, Laura retweeted a very harsh reaction of a comedian. From how Laura now talks about Carrie in interviews and defends her on Twitter when Broadway peeps make derogatory remarks, hallelujah she has seen the light and been converted!!!
Carrie's response, which makes me think she knew about that retweet because she's just all-knowing that way and keeps a closer eye on twitter and fan boards than you would think:

I can't believe someone would do that when they were about to be in a major production with the person.

At that time, only Carrie was cast and the major announcement was made. Laura wasn't cast until a few more than 9 months later.
(Note: Laura played Maria in the Broadway revival of Sound of Music in 1999)
ETA:
LOL! There's a bat that's been flying around the soundstage. They've named it Bruce and has been the source of a lot of laughs. They joke that it's Stephen Moyer's and it disappeared for a few days because it was in his trailer. Yesterday, it apparently flew through the set and caused hilarity because Carrie was "defending herself to the death" that she is not a wussy about bats. No danger of that happening on the big night though. The problem has apparently been solved. (Yes, I stalk the twitter accounts of everyone I can find who's involved in the production. Yes, I'm obsessed.)

Blown Away looks to re-enter the top 50 on the albums chart. I am guessing the hype for TSOM is helping it: -- 34 CARRIE UNDERWOOD 19/RCA NASHVILLE 22,015 Imagine how much higher the number could have been if there was a fifth single. Oh, the possibilities!

Also, "My Favorite Things" is apparently being sent to radio stations? It was definitely sent to WKLB:

If this year marks Maria's 100th birthday, then she was born in 1913. WW2 occurred from 1939-45. That would make Maria 26-32 years old, and Carrie's 30. And I think the clothing is what ages her, not the way she looks.

i didn't know how old Carrie actually was. i just saw that picture and thought she looked about 45. i thought maybe she was made to look older bc she was playing a character who is older than herself. its probably the lack of makeup (normally when i see Carrie the make up is pretty caked on) and lighting. still pretty looking 30 or 45 though

I actually think Carrie looks quite young when she's less made up. She could still pass for a college student.

In that first picture, make- up is certainly not caked on, (and I don 't think it's ever caked on.) At times Carrie likes to wear dark eye makeup, anyway she looks pretty clean cut in the pictures and looks like a young women in mid twenties. But hey, ithe way people see things has knocked me off my chair a few times. I always go away wondering if they were kidding.

yeah her acting so far isn't too good. just being honest. she sounds great but when your first "acting" scene in the movie is opposite Audra McDonald.... that certainly doesn't help her look good. also she is the only actor, so far, who has "played" to the camera.

Her singing is PERFECT. Her voice is just perfect. But even as a huge fan, this is hard to watch when she's not singing. But hoping she can win me over!

She's getting more relaxed as the show goes on. And, this is literally the best she has ever sounded. I'm enjoying it.
