I like Rihanna's version, but I already grew attached to the solo version and like it more :kii:

^Did you really have to post that here? Uncalled for. We're all sick and tired of seeing that photo and we're all well aware of what happened between them 3 years ago. We don't need that. Besides, this is not the appropriate thread for you to post that.
Anywaaay, Rihanna makes this song better imo, love her part and this song grew more on me because of te remix.

I don't see the problem with the photo being in here. It sure gets the message across. Wow. How can this song being enjoyed knowing it's between the woman in that photo and the person who did that to her?

I don't see the problem with the photo being in here. It sure gets the message across. Are you even serious? This thread is to discuss a party song about turning up the music and has nothing to do with domestic violence, regardless of what happened between them. This is a thread for discussing the performance of this song, mainly on the radio and I don't think a photo of a beaten up Rihanna belongs here, no matter what he did to her, which had noting to do with this song. Moreover, it is not a pleasant photo, and to me posting it was not nice, which only worsens the fact that it was posted in my opinion.

This isn't just a "party song." This is a serious issue with very serious consequences. As you said, we are here to discuss the song's performance at radio. Personally I think it's sick for radio to play this as it's enabling stars to act out in such a way as to promote violence (resulting in that picture, or worse) to its listeners. This whole situation is beyond disgusting. I don't understand how anyone can sit here and defend it and say it's a "party song." This is nothing to party about.

Well, my main point is that, even though that happened between them and regardless if this song promotes violence or not, posting that pic was not appropriate or even necessary: we all know what happened without having to see that, which is not pleasant and on a single thread posting that pic is not the right place in my opinion. Ok, that is your perspective, I respect it, and I can't say it's a wrong one, but lyrically this is purely a party song, regardless of what happened between them, I'm not defending the song, I'm just stating the obvious. If anything, I think BC's remix promotes more violence than this, but that's beside my original point.

This is getting fucking ridiculous. Yes, Chris is an ass and he never should have laid his hands on Rihanna, but keep that shit out of this thread. I don't want to come in here to discuss the song only to have that photo pushed in my face. There is a place for that, and this isn't it. Also, how dare you judge those of us who enjoy Chris' music...my taste in music is none of your business.

Why is her battered face posted here? A song that is about turning the volume of music up and dancing has nothing to do with domestic violence, and if Rihanna has FORGIVEN HIM and MOVED ON with HER LIFE, so be it and more power to her. People can't let go of pointless grudges these days. What he did was wrong, BUT IT WAS THREE YEARS AGO AND HE PAID HIS DEBT TO SOCIETY. We're here for the MUSIC and not these artists' PERSONAL lives. Damn all of that "Rihanna is supposed to be a role model to women" talk because any woman that looks up to a naive 24-year-old woman is clearly delusional and can't have a life of their own.

Yes, Rihanna's thread is already a mess enough. No need to make this one into a mess too.

Lawl at the outrage of that picture being posted here. There's no way on earth everyone shouldn't have expected exactly that kind of response when they decided to team up together so brazenly. They have, unquestionably, asked for it.

Some people need to get a grip.
If the two of them agreed to collaborate, they obviously have sorted things out on their own, in their own terms, who are you to judge? Just because you are an unforgiving push-over doesn't mean Rihanna has to be. She made a professional decision to do this song, a song about partying, nothing more to it, that's her decision. You want to sound smart and twist this into some "moral issue" then that's your problem, no one has to agree with you.

Oh God @ that photo being posted. Enough
So tired of people only coming into this thread to complain. Do that in the other 23394 threads about the Rihanna/Chris situation in the Polling section. Please Do not bring that mess in here b/c then the thread will be locked and none of us who have been coming into this thread from the beginning cannot discuss the song and it's chart performance.
Today's update: Day 26: CHRIS BROWN - Turn Up The Music: 20.822 (+ 0.528)
He will be performing at the NBA All-star game. Good stuff.

How can anyone say that picture is out of place when they're trying to profit off the controversy of his beating Rihanna? He's making out like a bandit on this felony. Now I don't want either of them to complain nobody will let him move on or forget when they're the ones bringing it to light.

They're exploiting this themselves to make money off of the fans that gave them support. And radio stations playing this are just as guilty.

Stop acting immature. You've seen the picture before and it shouldn't bother you. right? You know why it still bothers you because it is still a horrible thing. It is sickening that she would stoop so low to get some "buzz".
Thank God you posted that picture. Rihanna has no respect for herself. I get that she wanted to forgive Chris, but he does a duet on her most graphic song.
fun dance song?

Also, IMO, posting that picture in this thread is more immature than the reactions of those of us who are opposed to it. We all know what Chris did to Rihanna and we've all seen that photo a million times - there was no reason to post it here. This is a thread to discuss a song, not domestic violence.

However the business decision that was made to record together blurs the line between the song and domestic violence. Personally I think it is an immature reaction to support this song at radio, because it has complete lack of regard for the responsibility that we all share sending a message that domestic abuse is not okay. It's so dangerous when we start to accept these things into our culture. But hey- it's America. Someone waving a harmless middle finger up is met with outcry and potential fines, but the promotion of punching a woman in the face- totally cool

"Birthday Cake" has gained millions in audience impressions in the past two days. There's no backlash.

The remix is hot but i prefer the single version. And to the people who are derailing this thread....Get over it...Rihanna has moved on and some of you need to aswell.

A moderator is the right person to PM if there are inappropriate posts, rather than clog up the thread with this ugly back & forth.
