After hearing the live performance.. it reminds me of a song Kelly Clarkson would record.

Love the live performance of it from last night. I always prefer his tracks live, over the studio versions (so I am now set and happy). As delusional as I might be, I really hope this can go somewhere on pop (top 20 at the very least). I am just so glad insanely joyful he's actually releasing a sophomore studio album with label support. To be honest, I thought he was going to get dropped after The Truth flopped, and the album didn't even achieve Gold .his album still sold around 325k though, while not great, you dont typically get dropped for that. crystal and lee both got dropped but neither of them passed 215k. 325k is kind of a safe zone

I think that the current power structure at RCA realizes that his previous A&R representative was an idiot, who didn't know how to capitalize off of an artist who scored a top ten hit song on three different formats. With the correct second single and good promotion he could have sold more albums and singles.

He has a different A&R team than he did for his first album. Not to rehash things, but I think if AWM had been the 2nd single off the 1st album, he might have sold better. But we'll never know.
Anyway, VOL seems to be getting a generally positive reaction, even from people who aren't necessarily fans of his, so that seems like a good sign. We'll see if there is any sort of official announcement this week on when the single will be released

I'm glad RCA let him do a sophomore album. I hope this is better than his debut!

If the lead single could go top10 without great promo, then there is something to work with. That doesn't mean this will work out, BTW. Jordin Sparks comes to mind as someone that can generate singles, but not album sales. Guys typically don't get a chance with labels to do that. Chris Brown notwithstanding, of course.

DJProject42 (Canadian djs) tweeted tonight that they have finished a Kris remix. It is not clear if it is a different song or another remix of VOL. They have the same mgmt that leaked the VOL remix. These are the same guys who did the Kelly Clarkson remix of "Stronger".

Really interested to hear this. I'm really bored with the current male acts that have been doing well at pop. Need someone different.

^ It's definitely not the music video, but some sort of behind the scenes promo. His audio tracks in there include "The Mint" performance as well as "Vision of Love" instrumental.

If "Vision of Love" was a Whitney Houston song rather than a Mariah Carey song, I imagine this would shoot right into the top 10.

Um ,but this is NOT a Mariah Carey song. It is an original song co-written by Kris, not a cover... it just has the same title as an old Mariah song.

I didn't like the snippet, but really liked the acoustic performance.

The acoustic performance isn't bad. It's a decent song.

When do we get to hear the studio version? No official dates of any kind yet. All that's been said is that the lead single would be released in "late February."

I am excited for this release! Me, too. I think this song has a chance on radio, let's get on with it already. I just hope they release the remix as well, it is the best thing ever.

We havent heard the actual studio yet. And really? Every song? Even as a Kris Stan, I have no qualm saying that lifetime was a horrible song.
