I heard this song on the recent AT40: The 70's episode of the Feb. 10, 1979 AT40 chart: Do you remember the 1979 song "Baby I'm Burning" by Dolly Parton, this song had a country meets disco kick or something like that to it.

A great song. And, yes, it was an unabashed bid for club play... and it worked pretty well. She even released an extended disco mix that turned out quite well:

I like "Baby I'm Burning" a lot. It's one of my favourite Dolly's uptempo songs. I really like the production, especially the sound of pistol after the "hot as a pistol" line.
This song was also a theme to her TV show Dolly!. It peaked at #1 on Hot Country Songs, #25 on Billboard Hot 100 and #15 on Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. It's very similar to Elvis Presley's song Burning Love.
