Kellie Pickler has signed with Black River Entertainment. BRE is the home to Craig Morgan, Sarah Darling, Due West and Glenn Templeton. “In looking for a label partner, I was really drawn to the Black River family because they hold similar values that I do,” shares Pickler. “From our initial meeting, it was clear to me how much the entire team respects the artists’ musical vision, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the studio to record and release new music to country radio.” e2.ma/message/ur5wc/qgyglc

Very happy to see Kellie Pickler land herself a new label so quickly! I am excited to see how Black River is able to revitalize her career and give her the respect and support she deserves as a truly great country artist. <3

So excited for Kellie! This is really the best option for her career, in my opinion. Black River has the capability to get Kellie hits to at least the level that Sony was getting her lately, and possibly greater like they did with Craig Morgan's "This Ole Boy". I'm also glad she will be able to make the music she wants to make. If that means more songs like "100 Proof", I am ALL for it! Even if she doesn't get as much radio exposure, she will at least still be making music for awhile :)

Kellie Pickler was on Anderson today, I just got to watch it, she mentioned she is currently writing and looking for songs. That she is aiming for a release next year.

Are the AMAs considered a big deal for Country artists?

I've found myself thinking the same, so I'm going to use your post as a springboard for quoting an old post of mine that makes me feel smug. On 4 January 2011, I posted: this in our "Predictions for 2011" thread: * Scott Borchetta and Mike Curb will "get in the ring." Reality was a little late to deliver, but it eventually came through for me. I figured at the time that I would find it difficult to root for either, and I guess it is only fitting that they are fighting over ownership of, among other things, a monstrosity like "Truck Yeah." I definitely didn't predict the latter part, however. Are the AMAs considered a big deal for Country artists? I don't think the AMAs are considered a big deal for an artist in any genre, except inasmuch as they provide a televised promotional platform just as the holiday shopping season is about to kick off (to be fair, I view all awards shows in a similar way, including industry-voted ones). But I suppose they also provide an added layer of visibility for those who go on to become Grammy nominees a few weeks later, and can help give the appearance of momentum during the final voting period (theoretical link only, I don't know of any proven link between the two).

I remember people talking about Joe Galante and what his next step would be when stepping down from Sony/RCA. So when I saw this I knew I had to share it here. Today that question was answered by Sorted Noise. Sorted Noise is an artist branding building company that was started by two members of Sugarland's backing band as well as two folks they know. They have worked with various acts over the past few years and just started expanding their company by adding adviser's. This is what they posted on their facebook about Joe. In our continuing "announcing the Sorted Noise advisors" series... ADVISOR #2: Joe Galante. Over the last 4 decades, Joe has been the head of RCA US, RCA Nashville, Arista Nashville, and Sony Music Nashville, and has built some of the most iconic artist brands in the world. Joe is one of only a handful of major label music executives who have been on the inside for both sides of the incredible rise and fall of the recorded music business. With that unique perspective, comes powerful insight. For us, Joe is the calm voice of reason. No matter what decision we have to make, he's made it before. Miranda and Patty Loveless singing Dear Diamond. Great to see Patty again! Ironically one of her biggest hits is "Don't Toss Us Away" and thats exactly what Country radio did with her. Miss hearing her all the time like we used to.

^ Patty is also featured for a few seconds on Nashville. She's in the Bluebird Writers circle scene. I thought that was pretty amazing. I didn't notice it honestly until she pointed it out on twitter. But once she said it and I watched it again, she stuck out. Maybe because I wasn't paying close enough attention the first time. So if you're a Patty fan, watch out for that tonight!
Also there are a few other moments where you see country stars - legends and such through out the show. I thought that was cool!

I'm not a fan of the musical dramas, but mainly for the fact that the show is based on Nashville, I'll have to check it out tonight.

^ I will say it's not anything like Glee with random outbursts of music. Music is in the show since a lot of the people on the show are artists or song writers but there are story lines that aren't attached to the songs if that makes sense. Like one of the main characters sings two songs on the show tonight, not full songs. One when she is on the Opry and the other when she is rehearsing for her tour. The other was on the Opry and her other one was in the studio working on her album. A few of the supporting characters do a few songs at the Bluebird on song writer night. There's plenty there besides the music and songs, it just works into the profession of the characters. Because believe me, I don't care for the shows and movies that use songs and performances to move along things - main example Glee where they sing and do performances mid conversation or trying to move into another area. Only modern one I can think of off the top of my head. No offense to people who like Glee, honestly.

2012 AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS Nominees: These seem slightly dated. Does anyone know what their eligibility period is? For instance, Pontoon wasn't nominated for any Group Awards as a Single, which is either a big oversight (considering it did receive a nod in a Music Video category), or they have a strange eligibility period (that potentially varies between categories). Kinda has me puzzled a bit. ???

My dad was better at spotting them than I was -- he saw Del McCoury right away, when I thought he was just some random guy! I think it's pretty impressive that they got actual musicians for scenes where they could have just used bit players or wherever they're called. Shows that they're going for authenticity.

^So ummm....that changes things massively. Looks like Taylor Swift will always be Number One now. Thinking it is a shame for them to make a change. Wonder what chart people will really be looking at now?

What a joke. The charts were bad enough before with the inventive manipulations and new "airplay deals." Now, this. I've said this before, but I think it's better, and means more, to have a big selling album rather than getting "# 1 hits" on the song charts. There is too much manipulation and rule changes going on.

This is the guy behind the Billboard rules and he is the Editor, he is also way out of touch. follow his tweets, he is on Twitter. I am not liking his tweets, he says that we may think he and his team at Billboard made the right things. Tell him he is wrong on his twitter or heck go to Billboard's Facebook page and tell Billboard what you think. I already did and know it's going to take a lot to make miracles happen but only time will tell if they finally give in and change it back. Here is his twitter address and page Bill Werde, Editor for Billboard. twitter.com/bwerdeBill also has a Facebook account. Here is his link on Facebook. www.facebook.com/werde?fref=ts
