The official second release from Break The Spell according to DaughtryOfficial.com. The single is being launched with an American Idol performance on 3/15.
This is one of my favorite tracks on the album for sure, but can it make any movement on the pop charts? I definitely get Finger 11 Paralyzed vibes from the track in that I think it is more of a get up and move, almost dance, rock track. However, we are in a very different chr climate than when that track was released.
Break The Spell is a phenomenal album and I really hope this does something for them. They seriously need a hit song right now if they plan to continue to be viable at the format.

I don't think they'll do much this era, and you can blame that on a less-than mediocre lead single.
I think the label should have went with "Losing My Mind," to ensure a great run on HAC and AC, while giving it a hard push to CHR/Pop so it could at least reach the Top 40. I can see HAC being hesitant on playing the guitar-driven "Outta My Head," and rock formats (beside Heritage rock) won't play Daughtry anymore. So I have doubts CHR/Pop will latch on to this track.

I love this song. It's also a little different from their normal releases. Combined with an AI performance, maybe it will do well.

And, also have a great video. RCA needs to give people more of a reason to buy the album which is amazing btw.

I really think with a guitars-down radio edit similar to Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer", it could be at least a top 20 hit. With electropop still dominating the pop radio scene, I won't expect a rock hit to be as big as "Paralyzer" for I don't know how long. I also happen to think this is a better song than CBTY, so I really hope this gets an adds date and proper promotion (as well as Nickelback's "Lullaby", both of those deserve to be on pop radio imo). I don't know what the problem is with pop radio rejecting music from the hot rock bands in the 2000s now with Nickelback's "When We Stand Together" and Daughtry's own lead single missing the top 40. At least The Fray was close to the top 20 this time, so I don't think all hope is lost.

^I find Daughtry's/Nickelback's/The Fray's efforts all significantly weaker this time around. (Although I find The Fray's release the weakest and it feels weird that it had the most impact.)

LOVE IT. Hope it does well and brings him back to pop radio. I thought Crawling Back to You was great too though...

Not a huge fan of this choice. I would've gone with "Crazy" or "Break The Spell."

Seriously "BTS" "Crazy" or "Losing My Mind" all wouldve been better options than this. It's like they're trying to fail on Top 40 charts.

The way the charts are looking right now, I don't really think they'll get a hit no matter what they release. I think this is one of the best choices though. Crazy would also be a nice option. Break The Spell is a boring song imo so that wouldn't do anything.

I think this song has potential to be massive, and would've if it was off their debut. Unfortunately, so much of their buzz is gone, so this will probably be another flop. It's my favorite single of theirs though, atleast since "Over You."

I don't BELIEVE I am saying this - but I am shifting my stance from being a hater into a supporter of Outta My Head as the follow up singer:) LoL!
Chris, am so proud and thrill for you as you have pulled off a marvelous performance on the all important AI stage :)
Here are my grading on: Vocal A- Stage Presence/Charisma A+ Entertainment Value B Cohesiveness as a band A-
The keyboard(back-up singer) player must be made a permanent band member - he is eye candy and has a great voice which blended well with Chris' . He will be a positive asset!
Chris got his groove back :)

Haven't heard the studio version of this, and I haven't paid much of any attention to Daughtry in quite awhile. Though I saw their performance on Idol and wasn't really feeling it. Then again, rock music isn't really my thing, so I don't know how successful this may end up being. In spite of all that, I like Daughtry as an artist and wish him the best, because I know that they've been unable to really recapture the success of their debut record. So, good luck to them.

I just listened to Outta My Head tonight and I'm even more confused as to why the label chose it as single. Why would the label chose ANOTHER song that shows pure rock influence when "Renegade" flopped?
I respect them for wanting to change up their sound a little bit, but it's going to be even tougher for them to regain momentum if two singles underperform. Chris may want to be a rock artist, but Daughtry became successful of pop-rock, so it makes since that the pop crowd (or radio) isn't responding to the singles.
The label could've at least been smart about it and released a pop/rock single to pop and sent this to rock, to see if a pop/rock single that is similar to Daughtry's pop/rock sound would resonate with listeners.

This is too border-line rock/pop for rock listeners to be fully responsive, and this will probably hurt the song on pop/HAC also. Although I hope, like someone else said before, this pulls a "Paralyzer" and becomes a surprise anthem on all formats. Doubt that'll happen in the state radio is in today.

Even though I am more hopeful of Outta My Head as a single (and that it would not be the 'death star' for this era) - I still hold the belief that it is the wrong choice for exactly all the reasons as quoted above. iMO- they should have picked either Losing My Mind or perhaps Crazy as the up tempo follow up. Just keeping my fingers crossed that Outta My Head would not be an outright bomb ...

An Idol performance couldn't even get this to the Top 100 of iTunes? I'm afraid this whole project is doomed. I really hope they can recapture the commercial success of their debut with their next album. I really love Break The Spell, but I guess they need to find a way to make music the public really loves again too.

It's amazing how hard and fast CHR/Pop radio stopped playing bands like Nickelback and Daughtry.

Old trends become popular again. In the 15 or so years that i've been following the charts I have seen multiple trends repeat themselves. Just look at the whole boy band thing coming back now.

Is the label even going to send this to Pop radio? I saw them perform it on Idol, and I'd think they'll send it to rock (and maybe Hot AC) stations. I can't see it getting much traction on CHR stations. It's a pretty good song, but it doesn't really fit into pop radio, in my opinion.

Hopefully it does well on HAC and they'd probably send it then. RCA hasn't supported Daughtry on CHR since the 1st single off the 2nd album. Not in support or in the consideration of the single choices. I haven't seen any add dates. But this song is on All Access under HAC Cool New Music. They remixed it for Radio. Not much different though.
