Paul Hardcastle has recorded about 20 albums since he emerged in the mid-80s. He's been aligned more with smooth jazz in recent years, but he was putting out a lot of electro records in the 80s. "Rain Forest" is one of his best known songs, and his biggest R&B hit, where it peaked at #5 in February 1985. It also went to #2 on the club chart. Paul has revamped this song many times over the years and new versions have been featured on a few of his albums. Love this song, and I love his music. Classic record that still gets radio play today.

This is a classic! I remember hearing it all the time as a kid. I love "19", too.

Rain Forest didn't make Billboard's Hot 100 chart, I guess.

This is a smooth jazz, breakdance, techno-pop instrumental from 1985, that I like.

New for me, but I like it too. Of course, I remember "19". So now I've heard 2 songs by Mr. Hardcastle.

Rain Forest didn't make Billboard's Hot 100 chart, I guess. #57, and stuck around for a whopping 18 weeks!

I like it. I started to get into his music last year. Very smooth and relaxing to listen to.

I commonly heard this song on defunct smooth jazz station WNUA 95.5 when I was younger and I also heard it on V103 as well. When I first heard it, I thought I was listening to B96 as WNUA was right next to the dial. Then I realized I was listening to 95.5 instead (Oddly enough, I later heard this song during a old school lunch time set on B96.) I instantly loved this track as it also sampled the beat from Afrika Bambattaa's "Planet Rock". "Rain Forest" seemed to be a bridge between Hardcastle's electro music and the smooth jazz music he would later be known for. "Rain Forest" reminds one of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
