Again all the madonna stans ganging up on anyone who criticizes her. I am sure mdna is never going to catch up with prince musicology and its 2.2mil in "sales". which used a similar gimmick. Prince is now apparently the gold standard for bundling.Even if mdna giveaways r included its not like its still going to end up selling much. It gets uglier with time and anything slightly higher then gold is the best outcome Yeah, how long ago was Musicology released?? Albums sales are dropping, if Prince released his Musicology today, do you actually think it would have sold 2.2 million copies. I really don't think so. Some girls again.......It's like dancing around in circles with the same comments again and again and again.

Damn, either everyone's going to pick up in the second update or some big store is holding back Madonna sales reporting cause that drop is way harsh, Tai.

^Not matter of ganging up, but enough already. Billboard has stated that the album likely would have been No. 1 that week without the ticket promo- yet some still go on and on about it. Drop it- move on. Peace out. none of that is known for sure but who cares

Jason Mraz's estimate is 97k and Train's estimate is 100k.
I think both will fall short.
I don't like the Train single.
I haven't even heard the Mraz single.

True, 2m- nothing can be known for sure either way- whether it would have or wouldn't have- but the likelihood is in favor of would have. :)
jazzy- American Life logged 14 weeks on the BB 200, while Hard Candy logged 30 weeks. The tour supporting HC came much closer to that album's releases compared to AL, hence the lengthier run. AL only logged four weeks i nthe top 40, so this album could perform similarly.
Jason Mraz's single did well out of the gate in digital sales, but we know that can't be used to predict an album's opening sales.

Madonna should still get to the top 20 when they release it I was thinking more of her actual figures. The % reporting doesn't mean much but at 4K on 56% reporting, we would have to assume that 75% of her target forecast has yet to be reported. She'll need 15 - 20K to hit her target range. That tells me a big store chain has yet reported (impossible given Richie's numbers) or that her numbers are being held back.

8 36 MADONNA INTERSCOPE 3,942 MDNA Super flop That was to be expected from a superstar artist of Madonna's caliber. She's 50+ for christ's sake. The record company should know better than to release a Madonna album. They should've just stuck with the singles. The SB is setting an interesting trend. Seems like if you are a Superstar diva and headlining the SB Halftime show you are destined to flop with your next album.

The real problem is she is releasing hoochie mama songs for a granny aged madonna this will never work. Then there is a pic of her in a trashy outfit fit for a 20 yr old street hooker

It just seems like they're having trouble getting the general public into Madonna's new material. I consider myself a big Madonna fan but I haven't listened to anything on the album in the past few weeks. This album is just not doing it for me.

people can hate, kiss her ass or whatever- shes a LEGEND. Her album went #1. Many people are aware of the drops since then, but MANY more remember the #1 debut with huge #s. Bottom line- it's a #1 album for a 53 year old very controversial white woman who put out a pile of TURD 1st single! Amazing feat.
No matter WHO u are (Madonna, Britney, Gaga, Beyonce etc etc..) if the album doesnt produce a hot 1st single or ANY hit single lol like MDNA appears to be heading towards, an album will NOT have legs and sink even faster the older and more controversial you are. Adele has a great voice, but if the singles weren't these (virtually) once in a lifetime epic successes, she wouldnt be 10 miles within the ballpark of where she is now! As massive as she is now, its every bit on the same level as Shania, Alanis etc..then look at their 2nd and 3rd albums. The music just didnt hit those same universal nerves that the other albums did. Bottom line- Madonna (who people either are loons of or detest at this point), is STILL generating attention bad or good and #1 albums! If she goes gold (500k sold) for a total hitless album in 2012, is not a hit but not a 'flop' and MORE than enough to maintain interest for her future albums (sorry to say for the many haters). Its when no one cares anymore or gets minimal-no media attention (like JLo was rapdily heading towards until On The Floor hit), then youre finished. Madonna will never be remotely in that same potential rut in our lifetime.

Maybe Madonna would sell better if she released more age appropriate material. I'd rather have songs like give me all your lovin or girl gone wild...but its kinda weird that a 50 something is singing songs like that. Again I generally enjoy Madonnas music but I think her trying to fit in with the 20 and 30 popstars isnt working. Something like ray of light would be amazing. Just my opinion..

Im also a Madonna fan and by far this is her worst album/material that has generated the least interest from me like...ever lol. American Life at least had a few songs that I connected with temporarily but with MDNA, theres just something very disconnected and half a*ssed abt. the overall project/era. Lionel has been BUSTING his a*s everywhere, is a r&b/pop legend and positively deserves a #1 w/ this album.

I'm glad to see Lionel Richie getting a deserved week at # 1. This was likely his last shot at the # 1 spot. I don't think there is anymore promo scheduled for his "Tuskegee" album in the near future. Without any singles being pushed at radio and no more promo lined up, the "Tuskegee" album appears to be on its own for now. I expect a steep decline for "Tuskegee" next week, but I think it might still be in the Top 10. "Tuskegee" is currently at # 1 on Amazon. Who knows? It might hang on in the Top 5 next week. As for next week's Billboard chart, I'm guessing Train or Jason Mraz will be # 1. Most likely, it will be Train.

Just my opinion.. thats part of the beef most are having. Her fans are p*ssed that these songs are like MATM (with Britney), 4M (w/ Justin) sell out and lame/ NON Madonna quality. While non fans are just laughing harder at her for trying to blatantly 'cater' to them- who dont like her any way. Shes losing both ways. A song like HU came out of left field and people felt it was a true return to form cause it was a simple infectious pop gem. No duets, raps..just a campy, fun, catchy song. It was perfectly crafted to her fanbase and hot enough to cross over to casual fans. Thats the formula she MUST return to on her next album! :/

^The album really isn't a flop yet. This is only the 3rd week. Depends on what a 'flop' is? If we expect that this album will move 1 to 2 million or more, we might come away disappointed. However if we think 500k is more what is expected then it really did not flop

LMAO @ Madonna really flopping hard. That's what you get for cheating. Good for Lionel for being #1, he deserves it after being cheated of the top spot! LMAO at the #1 album that you didnt and will NEVER get

Stans would not attack if others could discuss things withouth getting nasty.
Doing the whole immature LMAO @ Madonna really flopping hard is just so unneccesary.
Say what you want, but you don't have to be nasty, especially if you don't want to be "attacked"

I am sure the 25cents deals if they had effected the #1 would have created blacklash. Ppl get upset and frustated when they think things r unfair
