I had one interesting situation a few years ago:

You Know You're No Good by Amy Winehouse hit #1 on 6/23/07, and #2 that week was the version by the Arctic Monkeys. They were the top 2 songs for 4 weeks, but the Arctic Monkeys never got past Amy's version. I really love both versions.

That's the closest I've come to this happening.
