I have decided to start posting my weekly chart in a separate thread in addition to the personal charts page in the hopes there is feedback here and there. I'm going to kick my weekly thread off with my top 40 for the year. To start, here's some honorable mentions of the songs that just missed the cut... ...and don't worry. I won't tag you for subsequent updates as I post the complete top 40/weekly charts. Unless you enjoy the way I tag you... ;) Honorable Mentions:- Koala - Oliver Heldens
- Shake It Off - Taylor Swift
- Talk Dirty - Jason DeRulo feat. 2 Chainz
- Baby Don't Lie - Gwen Stefani
- To Love and Die - Jhene Aiko

And also thanks for the tag! Excited to see this. Tbh I don't make it into the Personal Charts thread much - but I do peruse people's personal threads so count me in from now on!

Well, let's get this top 40 rolling!40 | U Got the Sunshine - Graffiti 6
15-10-5-4-3-2-5-12-13-13-19
This ended up being a summer jam, debuting in mid-May and lasting through the end of July. A perfect song for a road trip!
https%3A//soundcloud.com/butr/graffiti6-u-got-the-sunshine
| 39 | Santa Tell Me - Ariana Grande
12-3-2-2-1*-1*-1*-15*
Projecting the trajectory here, because lbr, Ariana is going to be this year's Christmas number one. Not only do I have an unhealthy obsession with holiday music, but Ariana has been all over the chart this year. When she hits #1 next week, she'll be only the third artist to have held three numbers ones in a calendar year on my chart, joining Eminem (2000 and 2010), and Adele (2011).
https%3A//soundcloud.com/samantha_loves_pizza/ariana-grande-santa-tell-me-3
| 38 | Chandelier - Sia
18-10-7-4-2-2-11-11-13-11-14-17
I had a Pulse Danger Zone game earlier this year to set up my top 20 for one week, which was disastrous for Sia, as she went from being on the verge of a number one to falling out of the top 10. Not sure why I didn't return her to the top 10 after that, but it seemed her moment had passed. She should have charted higher in the year-end - the lyrics in this song are brilliant!
https%3A//soundcloud.com/siamusic/sia-chandelier
| 37 | Delirious (Boneless) - Steve Aoki, Chris Lake, & Tujamo (featuring Kid Ink)
14-8-5-3-3-4-6-8-11-16
Delirious peaked during an unusual period on the chart as the top 10 was flooded with dance songs. The chart tends to be more pop-heavy, but it was late summer/early fall and I must have been in the mood the dance my ass off.
https%3A//soundcloud.com/steveaoki/steve-aoki-chris-lake-tujamo-delirious-boneless-feat-kid-ink
| 36 | Addicted to You - Avicii
17-16-7-7-6-6-6-6-8-9-15-17-20
I'm not sure why this song never caught on the radio. I think the vocalist (Audra Mae) really nails the vocals. I actually like this song more than Hey Brother, which (spoiler alert) did chart in the year-end results higher. On my chart, this is one of two songs that come to mind that spent a few weeks trying to crack the top five, but got stuck behind stronger competition. This would be a good karaoke jam for me if they ever had it as a selection.
https%3A//soundcloud.com/davidguetta/avicii-addicted-to-you-david
| 35 | Bailando - Enrique Iglesias
18-14-10-8-5-5-3-4-6-10-16-19
Unlike the previous song, local radio played the hell out of this song. It makes me wonder why more Latin songs don't break into mainstream radio because this was a jam. Enrique Iglesias doesn't have a huge history on my chart, but he hit with the similarly named Bailamos way back in 1999. It wouldn't be until 2011 he'd resurface with "Tonight (I'm f**king You)", both of which peaked at #2.
https%3A//soundcloud.com/mahdi-torabi/enrique-iglesias-ft-sean-paul-bailando
| 34 | Love Me Harder - Ariana Grande featuring the Weekend
14-11-5-4-3-2-4-9-11*-16*
Oh, there's Ariana again! . Ariana is one of only a handful of artists to have five top 10 songs on my chart in a calendar year - the others are Alicia Keys (2004); Lady Gaga (2009), Bruno Mars (2011), and Nicki Minaj (2012). All of them had four songs place in the year top 40, but Ariana is the first to get all five. That said, unlike her other singles, I burned out on this one fairly quickly.
https%3A//soundcloud.com/breakdownfm/ariana-grande-love-me-harder
| 33 | Rather Be - Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne
20-11-9-6-5-4-3-2-6-9-15
Wow, this charted much lower than I was anticipating. I thought I remembered it being bigger on my chart than it really was. I love the retro sound of this song, and older people I have talked to tell me it reminds them of when they would go clubbing in the 90s. Ah, the sound of pre-internet days! ;)
https%3A//soundcloud.com/cleanbandit/rather-be-feat-jess-glynne
| 32 | Fancy - Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX
17-10-8-5-5-4-4-6-9-11-15
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I couldn't care less about the Iggy rap in this song. It's all about the Charli chorus for me, or at least it was. Sorry, Iggy, but Charli is truly the realest! I burned out on this by midsummer, and I think I'm pretty ok with never hearing this song again.
https%3A//soundcloud.com/iggy-azalea-official/iggy-azalea-fancy-yellow-claw-remix
| 31 | Cardiac Arrest - Bad Suns
20-16-10-8-5-4-7-8-7-8-12-15-18
The Bad Suns were definitely one of the bands on alternative radio that lit up this year for me. They placed three songs in the top 20 in addition to this one, though this was the highest charter.

I got down to the last choice and had a hard time making a decision for the last person to tag, so I punted and picked me. Because I couldn't be at 4444 and tag 45 people. The horror.

I'm going to try to post 10 each the next few days. I'm not too impressed with my formatting on the last post, so I'm ditching the tables 30. Only Love Can Hurt Like This - Paloma Faith
20-17-15-14-14-11-10-6-8-6-6-6-6-9-14
https%3A//soundcloud.com/tegs-t/paloma-faith-only-love-can-hurt-like-thisThis is the other song that spent a bunch of weeks at #6 (FIVE!), never cracking the top five. When I look at some of the songs that were in the top five, I'm surprised she didn't break through. This song was on repeat a lot this fall, and I have become a new-found fan of Paloma. Can't believe it took me so long to discover her. "Changing," which features her, just peaked at #4 last week on my chart, but unfortunately comes too late in the year to rack up enough points. At least Paloma eventually did go top 5. 29. Break Free - Ariana Grande featuring Zedd20-16- 10-7-5-3-2-4-3-8-11-17https%3A//soundcloud.com/universalrepublic/ariana-grande-break-free-ft-zedd-radio-editI just realized that Ariana had two songs this year that held every position in the top five but #1. Break Free was a victim of Ariana overload this summer - as just as it was reaching its peak, "Bang Bang" was released, and this negatively impacted Ariana, preventing what looked to be a likely number one. All the singles Ariana released this summer was so solid, but this is the one that I've grown to like even more past its chart trajectory. 28. Blame - Calvin Harris featuring John Newman20-15-12-8-5-4-3-3-4-11*-11*-16*
https%3A//soundcloud.com/databassmusic/calvin-harris-feat-john-newman-blame-original
Blame still has some life in it, but Christmas songs are pushing it down the chart, so based on the projection this is where Calvin will land. This was Calvin's 4th appearance in the top 10, and became his highest peaking song, beating his first song on my chart from way back in 2007 - "Acceptable in the 80s." 27. Partition - Beyonce17-13-12-12-8-5-4-3-3-6-11-8
https%3A//soundcloud.com/queenbmusicfanteam/beyonce-partition-explicit
Wow, what a weird chart run. It's one of the very, very few songs to re-enter the top 10 after dropping out, but then it fell off the chart entirely. I must have just been done with this song. Maybe I'd heard enough of Jay-Z Monica Lewiskying all over Beyonce's dress. Still, one of my favorite tracks from her Beyonce album. Actually, the one I love the most was "Blue," for her daughter, but she never released that. FML :'( 26. Somewhere Only We Know - Lily Allen7-5-2-2-1-1-4-10-12-18-18-18
https%3A//soundcloud.com/ni0/somewhere-only-we-know-lily
I don't monitor for how I think a song will end up at year-end because I like to be surprised. But I thought this song would surely appear in the top 10. I didn't realize that the earliest part of its chart run wouldn't be eligible. Lily Allen is one of only a handful of artists to ever nab five top tens from an album on my chart, and she did it before the year was halfway over. Unfortunately, "Our Time" just missed (#48 for the year). ANd another one ("Sheezus") peaked in the lower half of the top 100. 25. Hey Brother - Avicii16-13-11-8-6-5-3-3-3-6-9-16https%3A//soundcloud.com/adriencim/hey-brother-aviciiCan we talk about how brilliant Avicii's last album was? I wish all of his songs had done as equally well as Wake Me Up. I think people just didn;t know what to do with the folk-dance combination. This song actually ends up out-peaking both songs in the year-end that were ahead of it at #2 during its chart run (Air Balloon, and Dark Horse, which ended the year at #46) 24. Boom Clap - Charli XCX17-10-8-4-3-2-2-4-8-8-14-19
https%3A//soundcloud.com/teamcharlixcx/boomclap
I haven't been impressed with Charli's follow-up to this, bur Boom Clap was pop flawlessness and perfect for the summertime. This was part of my road trip mix when I went to Montana this summer, so it'll always be etched in my memory. :) 23. Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars14-4-1-1-1-2-9*-3*-3*-?
https%3A//soundcloud.com/dj-kevley-mix/mark-ronson-feat-bruno-mars-uptown-funk-official-music
I'm frustrated with this placement as it would have almost assuredly peaked in the year-end top 10 had it starting charting earlier or later. It's a victim of timing. I actually thought about waiting to chart it until next year so it would have a better chance, but that would have been cheesy chart manipulation. I can't say how much I love how offbeat and different this song is. Bruno Mars is one of the people I stan too hard for. :) Anyhow, it's purely a guess if this is where it truly would have wound up. I only projected three weeks out. 22. Love Don't Die - The Fray13-12-12-12-9-7-7-4-3-7-10-12-14-17https%3A//soundcloud.com/mckenzie-neubert/love-dont-die-the-frayI guess I was staying true to my Colorado support here with the Fray. It had a better chart run than I remembered. I'm not sure how it was elsewhere, but this song was all over the radio here because they are local. This was their third top 10 on my chart following "How to Save a Life (#4 in 2006) and "You Found Me (#3 in 2009). It would have peaked slightly higher if I had been able to include it's first two weeks on the chart. 21. Trumpets - Jason DeRulo20-18-16-13-9-7-6-4-3-3-3-6-11https%3A//soundcloud.com/joseph-trapani-1/trumpets-jason-derulo-4I can hear you all screaming now - Trumpets made the year end list and Talk Dirty didn't? Sorry, I'm all about one ass reminding me of a Kanye West song rather than having a passport of lovers. I'm not a slut, people! ;) This is a song I still am not tired of! Also, my nephew just started playing the trumpet in his school band and loves this song because of that, which is just adorable. :) That's the next set! I'll post the next 10 tomorrow.

Also nice to see holiday music getting represented. Yes, I know a lot of people don't chart any holiday music, but I listen almost exclusively to it. I'm a huge holiday music nerd. Usually one or two makes the top 40 each year.
