I would not expect "Toxic" to become a top performer at Hot AC but I am surprised at the poor reception it has recieved.
It was well recieved at many Hot AC leaning CHR/Pop's and it's Callout Research among adult females was quite good.
A #1 at CHR/Pop that is non-rhythmic wsould seem perfectly acceptable as a crossover to Hot AC. Ceratainly stations like WBMX in Boston have no trouble spinning it once or twice a day and making it fit their playlists.
So why not more than the handful of Hot AC's doing the same?

I would expect "Toxic" to make the chart at some point. Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and the like all hit Hot AC, so I would imagine Britney would do the same.

"Toxic" should chart real soon I imagine, probably even go Top 25.
Everyone I know says this really doesn't sound like Britney Spears, it's like a cross-breed between No Doubt and Madonna. This should likely be Britney's strongest showing on this chart.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This song seems too dance-y/poppy for Hot Ac.

My Hot AC station added this song, it sounds good on there.

I wouldn't want to hear it on a Hot AC station, but since it's a Pop #1, it'll probably hit at least #36 or so on the Hot AC chart. That's over 20 positions too high.

This song seems too dance-y/poppy for Hot Ac. Hot AC has been open to dancy/poppy hits in the past. Look at Kylie's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" or Madonna's "Music". Both of those were top 20 Hot AC hits. I think Toxic could break through the Hot AC top 40, but I don't know if she can beat out Oops...

2 songs happening to make top 20 does not mean every single pop/dance song will make it big. Looking at the top 20, it just does not seem to fit in there

2 songs happening to make top 20 does not mean every single pop/dance song will make it big. Who said it did? And those are two examples. I am sure there are more out there. Well, "With You" doesn't seem to fit into the top 20 either, but it is climbing its way there now. In fact, it would be good for Hot AC stations to diversify their playlists a little more by adding these "poppy" songs.

I don't see any reason why "Toxic" shouldn't be able to do at least as well as "With You" on Hot AC.

"Toxic" is way too up beat to be on Hot AC.
