Why are there no minorities played on this format?

Because Hot AC and AAA PDs are racist.
(I'm being sarcastic)

They're not. It's just that very few minorities make music that fit the Hot AC or AAA (especially AAA) format.

But, it is so segregated that it looks bad... they should implement some affirmative action or something.

LOL, yeah maybe we should have some affirmative action for the urban and CHR/RHY charts too... Hot AC and AAA is open to many races and ethnicities. Artists like Hootie & The Blowfish, Lenny Kravitz, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Enrqiue Iglesias, Eagle Eye Cherry, and others. It is not completely against minorities but I think the deal is a lot of minorities produce music that gets serviced to these markets. Blame the record companies, not the stations.

I think artists like Alicia Keys would be perfect for the Hot AC genre. I don't know why there's basically no diversity in Hot AC/Triple A. I think the format could benefit from it.
Alternative is somewhat benefitting for more diverse artists.

Yep, I definitely think Alicia Keys' would be great for Hot AC, just like Kelly Clarkson's "The Trouble With Love Is," and Christina Aguilera's "The Voice Within" would be a good fit for Urban AC radio.

Well, I know on my HotAC station, Prince gets a lot of recurrent airplay (some Janet Jackson). However, other than that, there aren't many minorities on the format. But I would imagine that the opposite could be said about R&B, hip-hop stations, etc. I don't follow these stations so I honestly don't know.

You didn't name the artist with one of the biggest Hot Adult Contemporary hits of all-time, Santana. The Hot AC chart also has "Where Is The Love?," and Fefe Dobson and Seal in New and Active.

I don't think it's the formats fault, it's the minorities who aren't making the music for the format, most minorities are making music for the urban-rhythmic charts and pop, that's why I think it's great when there is a minority who comes along and sings something different.

There are minorities. Hot AC and AAA have Melissa Etheridge. AAA also has the Indigo Girls and REM.

Good point. We were just limiting it to color . I know that WPLJ here in NY plays that Jeffrey Gaines cover of Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes. That's something

And don't forget that OutKast is getting hot AC airplay with "Hey Ya" and "The Way You Move".
I had a similar complaint before about the lack of minority artists on hot AC, but it's gotten better.
