Oh shit, not XRT... >:( I'm cool with WDOD spinning it because that station should be on the Alt. panel anyway. Sigh... at least it fits better than "Complicated."

So let's see the song has charted on:
Pop RHY Urban Hot AC Latin Alternative
So, IF it were to take off on AAA and chart, that would be the 7th format chart it would be on. WOW, that has to be near a record for multiformat hits. I don't know of too many other songs that charted on at least 7 R&R charts...
I don't think it charted on Urban AC, but I am sure it got some plays on that format regardless.

It was posted that "Smooth" charted on AC, Hot AC, Triple A, Alternative, Active Rock, Rock, CHR-Pop, and CHR-Rhythmic and that singles from the album made 11 out of the 12 R&R charts except for Country. R&R did not have Christian and Latin charts at that time, so to do a fair comparison you can't count Latin for "Hey Ya." I have no way of knowing, but Santana is Hispanic and I wouldn't be surprised if "Smooth" got Latin airplay.

"Hey Ya" does not fit Urban AC at all. They might as well play 50 Cent on country radio. It's the same thing.

Also, I've heard the song on smooth jazz too. >:(

Well, I wouldn't think Dilemma or The Game Of Love fit Urban AC either, but those songs were played on Urban AC and even charted (the former anyways). So, it wouldn't surprise me if Hey Ya! had a few plays on Urban AC.

So, it wouldn't surprise me if Hey Ya! had a few plays on Urban AC. "Dilemma" charted because it heavily sampled Patti Labelle who is an Urban AC staple and it wasn't really rap. "The Game Of Love" was only played on one Urban AC station and it was played maybe twice. I do checkups of Urban AC stations and none played "Hey Ya".

Hey, maybe there is even a country remix out there too! It actually has received some country airplay according to Mediabase, but nowhere near enough to actually chart.

This is only a technicality, but "Hey Ya!" got some plays on Active Rock stations that carry Out of Order, a syndicated show playing Alternative hits. I heard it on TK101 (WTKX, Active Rock).

Perhaps that could happen. I don't think this song is close to Smooth Jazz, although I suppose that "My Favorite Things" would fit fine there.
It is not really active rock at all. I'd say that Out Of Order is the only understandable thing, but I've seen a couple playlists for radio stations that were really alternative (although it's been awhile since I've checked stuff like WBBB). It would maybe fit on Rock though. I know it fits the format better than "Because I Got High", which charted (although now it's only 30 songs and it used to be 50).
LOL at "Smooth" on smooth jazz (in an ironic way).
