I have not heard the entire "Heavier Things" LP. Is this the best choice for the follow up to "Bigger Than My Body" on AAA and Hot AC? Was there a stronger track to choose?

Yes there are stronger tracks. This is the slowest song on the album and they obviously wanted a ballad. Plus it keeps him in YBIAW mode without the horror of releasing 'Daughters'.

This single choice is terrible, as I mentioned before, for numerous reasons:
1) Both by my own ears and according to John Mayer's Frequency chart on his CD lyric sheet, it is terribly slow. It is the slowest tempo track (60 BPM)
2) It's duration exceeds 5 minutes, and cutting off any part of the song is illogical
3) It's a ballad for Christ sake!
I don't think John mayer is going to get another big hit off this album but for his Triple A audience, he could have chosen a lot better also. "Clarity" or "New Deep" could have earned him another AAA mega-hit, or he could choose the selling-out move and re-mix "Daughtera" so it sounds more radio-friendly.
You can forget on "Come Back To Bed" making the Hot AC Top 20, perhaps even Top 30.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Well, "Come Back To Bed" is certainly experiencing some rather slow growth well below the Top 20 on Triple A.
Perhaps it'll pull an "Unwell" or "Closer To You" but seriously I can't understand why John would consider this a single candidate in the first place. It sounds dreary even for Triple A.
According to Radio And Records, "Clarity" earned 3 adds this week on AAA, and I feel this is only going to jeopardize "Come Back To Bed" more. What the heck were you thinking, John? You should have realized "Clarity" and only "Clarity" or "New Deep" or "Something's Missing" with a shortened duration.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Did the song even go for adds yet?
You make it sound like John single-handedly picks his singles. Sony's fingerprints are all over this one. It's pretty clear from his live performances, that John favors "Clarity".

Anyway, whoever chose to promote "Come Back To Bed" is pretty lousy at picking singles. Sony should just be lucky his album has gone platinum already. Sincerely, Noah Eaton
