I don't know if anyone else mentioned or noticed this, but this week marks Fountains of Wayne's 22nd week on the Hot AC. I thought that the rule was 15/20 on the Hot AC chart. What is the deal here?
One may argue it is because FOW still has a bullet, but we know that a number of songs have gone recurrent before and have had bullets in their first recurrent week and even afterwards (see Maroon 5). Is this some oversight by R&R, or is there some change to the Hot AC recurrent rule that I don't know about?

It's been gaining again for about five weeks now and has it's highest spin total yet this week. I imagine they'll remove it once it starts losing spins again. This is kind of like what happened with songs like "Don't Know Why" and "Can't Fight The Moonlight" on the AC chart.

This is kind of like what happened with songs like "Don't Know Why" and "Can't Fight The Moonlight" on the AC chart. Those songs were moved to recurrent on AC but only reentered because they were rereleased to AC radio. On Hot AC, neither song was kept on neglecting the recurrent rules. Was Stacy's Mom rereleased to Hot AC??

Other than bulleting, it's also probably an exception because it didn't make the Top 15! I can't vouch for LeAnn and Norah, but really, the recurrent rules are made to get rid of songs which have already been established as [top 15] hits, but the spineless programmers won't back off playing. But also, having been burned by the aforementioned examples, as well as Jack Johnson and 311 on the Alternative chart, maybe they're reining in any inclinations to make kneejerk reactions.

I doubt that's the case because numerous non-top 15 songs have gone recurrent on Hot AC when they reached 20 weeks.

I think it's because they just accidentally left it on too long and there was no message board for people to tell Ron to take the song off.

I could ask the same thing about at least ten other songs on the Hot AC chart.
