There are alternative stations that lean towards Hot AC? I'd like to hear one of those stations. 106.5 The End/Charlotte is an alternative station that leans Hot AC - they have "How To Save A Life," "Home" by Daughtry, and "Better Than Me" by Hinder in heavy rotation - they also played "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback and even Goo Goo Dolls songs like "Here Is Gone" and "Black Balloon" - they commonly use recurrents like "What Would You Say" by Dave Matthews

I just looked at their top 100 songs on yes.com and liked just about all those songs except "Home" by Daughtry lol

Yeah - it was one of my favorite stations when I lived in Charlotte - the weird thing was, the Alternative station leaned Hot AC b/c the major Hot AC station (107.9 The Link) was 90% talk except for overnights and weekends

On 107.9 The Link they never run out of stuff to talk about! Most of their shows are syndicated on other Hot AC stations (Bob and Sheri, Matt and Ramona) and they're all a creation of WLNK/Charlotte - they do play about two Hot AC songs on the hour every hour during the weekdays

It debuted at #36 on Rick Dees this week. It debuted at #39 on AT40 this week.

That's kinda weird...I wonder why stations do that. I mean I guess it's good for ratings, but it's a freaking music station!

Yeah, it bumped them up a few points in the ratings - anyways (back to "Dig" by Incubus") I think it's stuck to Hot AC stations that don't have an Alternative station in the market - those Hot AC's that do (have an Alternative station in the market to play it) seem reluctant to play it

In San Diego it was played on our 2 alternative stations and then on the active rock station as well, but they didnt really give it a strong bullet and isn't play much anymore. That doesn't really mean anything, just that it's not on Star 94.1.

Probably explains why Hot AC San Diego station (KMYI?) is so "mellow"

We used to have another Hot AC station called Star 100.7 that was "harder" and played music that Star 98.7 in LA plays. But the PD wanted to be risky and switched the station to the Jack moniker that's been growing around the country even though it was one of the top stations in San Diego already. A new station just started last week called Sophie 103.7 (KSCF) which is harder than Star but sounds really feminine in their marketing style. They play "Dig" though.

This song is up 150 points to #22 on Hot AC chart as of today!!! As someone said somewhere in this thread, I hope Hot AC stations that don't lean alternative, and Hot AC stations in big markets will start to notice the popularity of this song AND ADD IT!!

That being said, I'm surprised WPLJ added this.

I had a look at the playlist on your new "Sophie" station. Wow, talk about a Hot AC that leans heavily alternative! I've heard of modern AC, but what is "Sophie" trying to be - the ultra-modern AC?

Wow! A completely original station - seems like a combination of Alternative, Adult Alternative, and Hot AC all in one - I've never even heard of "Oil And Water" by Incubus, their #1 song - actually, I've never heard of about 1/5 of the songs on their playlist - I wonder who came up with the idea, and if it will spread

Their ultimate downfall is the fact that it's marketed as an AC station so it sounds ridiculous when they come back from commercials or after a song you hear that feminine voice. Star, on the other hand has that "cooler" sound and makes it sound more like an alternative/pop station, but their playlist contradicts their targeting sound.

Yeah but some stations like WINC are the double-whammy. They play a lot of "girly" music (although some of it is good), and it's very feminine a lot. I must've been asked "Are you thinking about getting a tummy tuck?" 20 times this week.

If San Diego really has two alternative and one active rock station, that would explain why the "Sophie" station is being marketed to females - probabaly females who like pop/alternative but the 3 alternative/active rock stations are too "hard-rock" for them

Star 94.1 leans towards women too, but sounds more "pop" than AC if that makes sense. Oh well, it's a weird market.

This song peaked at #21, lost it's bullet, and then regained it and now it's top 20.
22 18 INCUBUS Dig 2006 Epic 958 905 53 3.757
This might go top 15, but I doubt it. It'll probably linger around the 20-15 area for a while. I still love this song.

18 17 INCUBUS Dig 1045 954 91 3.799
This isn't dead yet , it even gained some new adds this week. Is there any countdown show where this has yet to debut? It needs some further push to stabilize and fight its way into the top15. That would surely make it one of the most unusual top15 hits this year and I'd love to see that happen.

This song is crazy! That would be kinda funny if it made the Top 5 after so long.

I originally thought this would peak at #9, #10, #11, but it doesn't look very open right now. It will debut on AT20 this weekend, I think.

^ You think so? I know that stations that don't play it will introduce it to people if they play AT20 (and don't somehow skip the segment where Casey plays it).
Songs usually seem to have thier bullets rise when they hit the top 20 anyways, right?

For the most part yeah. But the songs dont get good feedback then the stations obviously dont put it into regular rotation for the big bullet was simply a flash in the pan. So it all depends on how people react to to see if it holds onto the bullet (obviously lol)

I'm glad this had made somewhat of a comeback. I think they've been cheated out of a much more extensive Hot AC career. Their last two albums had a lot of potential. It's good to have them back.
