I think Hot AC and Top 40 radio stations are playing this song so they have a follow-up to "If Everyone Cared" - it's not bad, but I don't think it would've become a hit if it had been released off its own CD What do you mean by that?

I think Hot AC and Top 40 radio stations are playing this song so they have a follow-up to "If Everyone Cared" - it's not bad, but I don't think it would've become a hit if it had been released off its own CD I think every radio-friendly song from All the Right Reasons has already become a hit. "Rockstar" is more AOR-oriented, but still appealing to a wide audience. So I think you're right - they needed a follow-up to "Cared", and "Rockstar" was one of the few unreleased songs left on the CD that had hit-potential. But I never expected it to rise above the lower rungs of the Hot AC chart. It's now #28 on R&R, and the most-added song of the week!

"Rockstar" is about to enter its 23rd week on the Hot AC chart (it stuck around beneath the Top 30 for quite a while as the single garnered a handful of early adds before attention was shifted to "If Everyone Cared") So "Rockstar" has only been on the chart three weeks fewer than "If Everyone Cared", and only now is the song beginning to ascend up toward the higher tiers of the chart. All uggghhhs aside, LOL, the track record for this single is quite remarkable (though I still think "Someone That You're With" would be the better strategic release in milking the album for all it's worth) Perhaps Roadrunner Records believe many more will be tuning into VH1 "The Fabulous Life" type-of-programs and are pushing this track to appeal to that crowd, just as Weezer's "Beverly Hills" and perhaps Puddle of Mudd's "Famous" will! Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"Rockstar" will have been in the Mediabase HAC Top 40 for 14 weeks when today's chart is finalized.
It's chart run: Debuts on 11/24/06... 40-40-off-off-off-39-40-36-35-35-40-40-off-off-off-off-off-off-40-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-40-32-27-(22)

I didn't expect this to have a 300+ bullet, but it has one now.

OMG, that's a very amazing jump from yesterdays chart, over 300, that is song is my least favorite from the album but unfortunately that's the song that will keep ATRR sales higher that period, I won't believe my eyes if that will also hit #1 here

LOL, they just premiered this at WTMX (Chicago). The DJs loved it though they said they hated the edited version with all the bleeps. They were complaining to whoever edited it.

What would they have to bleep out? The only thing in that song which is off-color is the line "hire 8 bodyguards that like to beat up a--holes". Most stations are either altering or bleeping that line. It'd be ridiculous to censor anything besides that. ???

Why the radio programmers (or whoever is responsible) are bleeping so many stuff .

Just curious - what other lyrics are they censoring in that song besides the "a--hole" line?

I'm known to be pretty conservative, but 1 thing I can't stand is all this censorship. I realize there have to be guidelines for decency, but bleeping out words that are common everyday usage just to appease the overly-sensitive people is ridiculous. >:( Mix 96.9 only altered the "a--hole" line, and left all the other lyrics in tact. That's how it should be.

That's how it should be. On this related topic, whenever I hear Everlast's "What It's Like" as a 90's recurrent on my Hot AC station, I STILL hear many lines edited out, including the word "drugs" dubbed over, and it has always been the case (although on some Triple A stations that play the song they don't dub it out) I think, especially with the FCC currently going medieval over fining over $230K per violation on an instance of profanity and such, the commission remains particularly conservative on language and suggestive dialogue, which includes drug references of any sort. Thus, it likely explains the immense editing of singles like this. I wouldn't be surprised if some decided to edit out the "We'll all stay skinny cuz we just won't eat" line also somewhat (though I think it'll be left alone) as we're also currently seeing many European countries coming down hard on banning anorexic models from the runways among other things, and we're seeing similar actions gaining momentum here, thus some may decry what they'd argue as the glorification of pro-ana culture through lyrics like that. Had "Animals" ever crossed over, you'd undoubtedly see the same sort of mass editing occur I'm sure. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

+411 spins according to the latest count.
Unbelievable! I never thought this would even go top 20, but it looks like on its way to the top 10. Can Nickelback possibly make it 5 #1s in a row? ???

When my station played this track as a current, there wasn't a single edit done to the track. Interesting!

I haven't heard any edit when I hear it on the radio too. Must be a Canadian thing.

I think this song has huge momentum in Top 40 and Hot AC - it's not a GREAT song, but Nickelback is familiar enough, and the tune is catchy enough, that stations will play the crap out of it, especially b/c they still need rock-oriented songs right now

Funny thing about this song, is that listening to the lyrics, everything about 'rockstars' holds true.

Can't see this song hitting #1 - probabaly Top 5 - it also has a problem b/c a bunch of Hot AC stations have ALREADY PLAYED IT FOR MONTHS along with "If Everyone Cared" (or instead of it) - which means when it hits the Top 10, it's going to have a "handicap"

It debuted at #34 on Rick Dees this week. It debuted at #30 on AT40 this week.
