Casey Kasem played "The Reason" by Hoobastank as an extra on AT20 today and I thought of what you said here.

Songs like those are in gold rotation on Hot AC, pop, rock/modern rock, and alternative radio. I really don't think they need to continually play them as extras, but I guess they just go with the most familiar songs.

For me, it's the fact that they played 3 of the biggest songs of 2005 as extras... Green Day, Kelly Clarkson and Lifehouse. They're all overplayed as is! Give it a rest!
