You Should Be Listening We know Dolores O'Riordan as the voice and spirit of the successful Irish act The Cranberries, who, over the course of eight years, sold over 20 million albums internationally and enjoyed tremendous airplay on songs such as "Linger" and "Zombie."
But near the end of that band's journey, O'Riordan began to take stock of her life. She realized that family was most important to her and has since welcomed three children into the world.
"My time after The Cranberries was a clean slate -- no pressure and no contracts," she says. "It was the first time in my life I was a free agent. I had no inhibitions, which is how I felt when I first started out. That's all visible in my new album."
That album she refers to is her first solo outing, "Are You Listening?" The project was recorded between her homes in Canada and Ireland, and it features production contributions by both Youth and Dan Broadbeck. The projects kicks off with "Ordinary Day," which O'Riordan says reflects on the birth of her third child.
