This song got a Hot AC add today from station in Fresno, CA
I've been told that it is getting a decent amount of play on Sirius FM's Pulse station?

^Yeah; looks like fifteen spins last week according to All Access.
This is actually one of my favorite songs right now; hopefully I like the album.

It got 9 Hot AC adds today. Not bad, although none of the stations are in Top 50 markets

Lee hasn't got much buzz so it's not a surprise that the PD's don't jump on board straight away. We can only hope that the song will be liked, and will make its way up the charts.

The fact that Ryan Seacrest fell all over this guy on his Hot AC show makes me hate the song already.

Anyone know where this song is on the Hot AC charts? It was #61 on the latest official chart (Oct. 31) Not good imo considering the album is released in less than 2 weeks now. I'm not sure it will even reach the top 50 on HAC by that time.

Lee's debut single sales are in;
Lee DeWyze, Sweet Serendipity (18,000, debut, 18,000)

Lee's debut single sales are in; Lee DeWyze, Sweet Serendipity (18,000, debut, 18,000) That's actually pretty good first week sales considering the lack of buzz that Lee has had. By comparison, David Archuleta's Something Bout Love sold just over 21,000 in its first week so Lee is pretty close.

the moment i heard "push" by Matchbox Twenty in the summer of 97, i told my father in our work truck,i can remember so vivibly saying..this guy can sing and i believe him! He'll be in the hall of fame one day and nothing Rob's done thus far has suprised me and i expect even bigger things in the next 5-6 years from him and until he retires lol..well the point is, i have the same gut feeling about Lee Dewyze. When i heard him on Idol with each song i knew he was better than most artists and especially live acts!! Then i heard him do Simon & Garfunkles's "The Boxer" and i knew right then, he's a career artist and believable with soul and passion. "Sweet Serendipity" is a hit, but i expect alot from him during his career! :) That's just my opinion of course lol

I agree. This guy is a STAR. He could be the biggest male winner Idol has ever had. In fact, with his voice and his songwriting, there is no reason why he can't be the most successful contestant from Idol ever.

There is a reason why he can't be the most successful contestant from idol, why? Because, he came from Season 9 of Idol. Season 9 had the worst ratings then the past two seasons. Idol's rating were incredibly low. Look I like Lee, but I don't think he'll sell more then 40k in his debut album.. sad, but its going to happen.

All Idols have to transcend the show in order to become more successful because their fanbase gained while on Idol is so limited, and ultimately so fickle. Lee may have a higher hurdle to overcome than some of the more recent contestants on the show, but it's hardly insurmountable.

The ratings went down like they have for the past few seasons, but it was still the top show on TV with people under 50. They weren't even close to low. Although I still agree that Lee unfortunately won't sell very much. I like this song, but the rest of the album will have to be really strong for him to succeed.

The first week sales basically indicate what most of us already knew: Lee doesn't have a strong fan base coming off of Idol. IMO, Lee's on track to sell about 35k-45 in his first week, the worst from an Idol winner. So in the short term it's not looking good. What will happen in the long term? Who knows, but with Idol contestants it seems to be true that those who make it in the long strong start off fairly strong. If Lee wants to do well he'll need really big radio hits, and for his style of music, that will be very difficult to accomplish. It seems SS is getting a lukewarm response from radio, and the label probably thought this was the most radio-friendly song on the album. So, it doesn't look like Lee will be able to overcome all the obstacles he has against him right now. But it is too early to tell. I guess more light will be shed in the next couple of months.

So much better than Kris Allen's "Live Like We're Dying". What does Kris Allen have to do with Lee DeWyze? Either Lee stands on his own merit or not. No need for comparisons. I think it's an OK song. Not great, but light and non-offensive. Terribly wordy, though. No reason for HAC not to play it, however. Oh, and I'm new here. Pleased to be here with all of you. :) All that poster was trying to do was compare DeWyze with earlier first releases from other Idol winners. Yeah, he is Lee DeWyze and not Kris Allen, but we're just discussing for comparison sakes, that's all. And welcome to the boards persephone! You will find many people here very knowledgable when it comes to music and radio. :)

IMO, Lee is probably the worst live singer of the male Idol winners but luckily sounds better recorded. Maybe Ruben, but I don't follow his music at all. SS is a decent song and probably will do pretty well on HAC and RCA will do its job to push it. It's a wordy song, hope he practices it before all the promo starts in a few weeks.
I think the 40k debut is a reasonable estimate, neither Lee or S9 has any buzz. It was a dull season.
Not to say he won't do well in the long run, he's just coming off the show with not a lot of the usual Idol fan support for first week sales. The song is fine for a debut single.

Wow that's not good - IMO basically kills his chance on CHR Something about this seems kinda amateurish I think - like a home recording almost - I think if Hot AC were gonna play it, it'd be at least Top 40 by now I like the song, but it just doesn't sound like it belongs on radio

In that case if that's true, then the low AI ratings would mean not as many people know who Lee Dewyze as they do Daughtry & Adam and that they come from American Idol, where as Lee not as well known, may have that in his favor, people just thinking he's a new talented artist vs an american idol winner. either way he wins ;) And this song is just starting to take off at hot ac and shouldn't take long to be in top 40 and then chr hopefully picks it up after it proves itself at hot ac and as more people here it on the radio or see the video on vh1, that will bump up the itunes sales!

I dont see this single doing much at all. i think 40,000ish is reasonable for his first week. i dont think anyone season 9 is going to have a hit song like a Live Like We're Dying or a Whataya Want From Me which would make it the first season without either a hit album or a hit single.
I think people are pretty much done with Idol tbh. i've been watching every single season since the premiere episode and it just doesnt do anything for me anymore.
America already has all of their types, pop rock princess, country star, soul brothers and sisters, pop r&b female star, hotac type rocker, and glam/goth flambuoyant dance poprock whatever mix LOL this show will certainly not find a lady gaga or a justin bieber type. lets not go crazy here. they already tried with aaron kelly and look how that turned out lol
but whatever, i dont have a crystal ball or anything so what the hell do i know. he may completely surprise me. having said that, i think this song is really good but i think after Adam, radio is pretty much done with Idol. I dont see Aerosmith fans, or whatever fans JLo has left flocking to the see the show past the audition rounds. now that simons gone i wouldnt be surprised if they lose another 5 million viewers or more like they did from season 7 to season 8 and again season 8 to season 9.
